They should sell beer in Sanford Stadium

At least 20 major colleges sell beer in their stadiums.

Some say fans in Sanford Stadium aren't rowdy enough. Selling beer in the stadium might help. It's a lot more convenient than having to smuggle a bottle of liquor in the crotch of your underwear. Maybe people wouldn't leave so early.

It's not like people aren't drinking in the stands already

If you need alcohol to make yourself feel good then you are in sad shape.

It would absolutely be beneficial to do so, despite what the old codgers who make the decisions think.
First and foremost, it would actually be safer. Now, people get as hammered as they can at the tailgate knowing that they can't get any alcohol the next 4 hours. Those who want to continue drinking smuggle in hard liquor. If we sold beer, I would imagine a great deal of folks might not drink QUITE as much before hand, and if they drank inside it would be beer instead of liquor.
Also, it would made TONS of money for the school, which as we know is king in today's world.
It doesn't make sense to me that other events with massive amounts of people can sell alcohol (the NFL, NBA, hell all pro sports, big concerts, BARS..) while the SEC doens't. They might trumpet the banner of "safety", but that's a farce.

Who said anything about needing it to feel good? The only people who "need" alcohol are severe alcoholics. People WANT alcohol because it's fun as hell and makes things more enjoyable.

If you've got the cash to fork out for a suite you can drowned yourself in bourbon. The po folks don't have that luxury.

I don't think the writer is correct. I think the NCAA has a rule against alcohol sales in on-campus stadiums.

I didn't read the article but that's not true. A lot of small schools do it, and I know that they did it in Morgantown recently for the WVU/LSU game (geez can you imagine a worse scenario to experiment with than that?) This is strictly an SEC mandate.

Well by all means, let's follow the rules.

....until the underage drunk kid with lawyer-parents slips and cracks his skull.
They'll be lucky to break even.

frick your own self Chinstrap. If you have to be a puking drunk making an arse of yourself do it at home, not at the game. I certainly have the right to express my opinion here without you jumping on me.
I'll be at the game Saturday. We'll be tailgating from about 8 am till kickoff and beer and liquor will be available. But we'll not be stumbling drunks wallowing in our own piss before, during, or after the game.
Try burying a friend or family member that was killed by a drunken driver before you criticize me for expressing my opinion.

What does this have to do with anything?

I do wish that Sanford would be more rowdy. I don't think lack of alcohol is the issue though. I think it's just the culture of the blue hairs in the stands. Sanford can get rockin but for whatever reason it's not a lot of the time.

ETA: Like WG said, it's conference-by-conference. Ghey-She-She doesn't allow it either.

Well, the bunch of "blue hairs" I am with at games are not quiet or sitting down during the games. I agree that there needs to be more noise from our fans. But this issue was being discussed 48 years ago when I was in school. Hasn't changed all that much. More people, but not much more noise.
