This shite is poetic and deserves a movie.

Chip Towers, he who is eternally angered by Kirby Smart and his media restrictions, will make the noble sacrifice of being the first to bring to light the dark truth about Fields time in Athens...

Could he build in a contingency/percentage of first year NFL contract or some other future payment into something like this?

These are good points and I honestly don’t know. If any monetary damages are speculative then (a) he’s just doing it for the notoriety or (b) a flat fee/hourly fee would have to provide for most of his compensation under the contract.

I think most attorneys, myself included, are not going to use a contingency fee unless we believe we have a reasonable case on liability with sufficient damages as well as a good prospect of actually collecting those damages.

This seems like the type of thing that a sharp attorney would take pro bono for the publicity.

Opens the door to be the “go to guy” for lots of clients with deeper pockets.

Oh, I bet an Ohio State booster will put him on retainer for an unrelated issue...

Just now on Finebaum Saban said that the most important lesson he ever learned was "When you get in critical situations in the game, don't think of plays, think of players."

In the most critical situation of the season, why did Kirby trust the "cancer" instead of the punter or Fromm? Why was a fake ever even considered?

Folks, there is much that we don't know or understand. I want more information and I want to see how this all unfolds.

User Lewis and Herschel,

Please consult with some of the CEOs of Walmart, Exxon Mobil, and other large corporations you have personally worked with to get us some definitive answers about this lawyer situation.

Thanks!

If a pitbull attacked Kathleen Zellner I fear for the dog.

I was going to ask if anyone else had noticed that Chip fricking Towers was taking one for the team there?

Kirby at least should be a little cooler with Chip from now on.

The team is throwing heavy shade at Fields on social media. It’s fantastic

Nauta has a pic catching a pass and says nice throw and tags Jake

No way I would handle a matter like this on a contingency

I don't see how Fields' attorney could make a hardship case based on racism given the fact that Justin wants to stay with the team and play in the Sugar Bowl.

If Fields transfers he will have to sit a year.

I think Thomas Mars is currently batting 1.000 on getting guys immediately eligible though...

I doubt a Fields transfer happens unless he is guaranteed immediate eligibility and guaranteed a starting role without competition.

Logic doesn't have to come into play when a lawyer is involved.

There is an opportunity cost with regards to the negative PR, cost of attorneys, and consistent perception of a multi-billion dollar machine against a 19 year old kid which doesn't fare well in a courtroom.

Agree. Must be real upset about those racist comments that he didn't hear since they are enrolling sis at UGA....

If it turns out that Fields is able to transfer and play next year, any player should have the same right. There is nothing special about Fields' situation that justifies an exception.

Is it time for unlimited college free agency?

The more I think about it, the more I think Fields stays.

I think the lawyers may end up being the ones who get the players paid. Free agency leveraging recruiting malfeasance is highly volatile
