Two big things have changed in 2019. We have a new OC and we have basically replaced the entire receiving corps. Coley may be part of the problem, but I believe that the receivers are a bigger reason for the decline so far this year.

Agreed. It seems that Fromm and the receivers are still learning tendencies from each other. The current crop of receivers are not anticipating back shoulder throws...knowing what read to make on DB's to determine which route to run, etc. that comes with experience, and there isn't a whole lot of that right now. Cager seems to be one of the better receivers with a good rapport with Fromm. Pickens is getting by on sheer talent, but is still learning. They should be okay in a few more weeks.

Like you said....we'll see.

No. Georgia will never have more talent than it has right now. Lack of Talent is the last excuse Georgia has.

You misunderstood him, I think. It's not a lack of talent so much as a lack of experience and chemistry with Fromm. It takes time for both to learn each others tendencies.

That's what I meant. I do miss having a guy like Hardman who can turn a defensive misstep into six points. We're not as talented as Bama or Clemson at that position, but if the receivers had more experience with Fromm I think teams would have to respect our passing game more than they do.

We are really missing JJ Holliman. Tall, physical receiver with good hands

Translation: We need better receivers and a QB who can throw accurately down-field.

We have good receivers. We need our receivers to set up routes properly, leverage the field to their advantage, get separation, sustain blocks, etc. Example, I think it was the 4th down play early in the game to GP1. First off, we ran a pretty low percentage play. Secondly, GP1 immediately releases to the sideline instead of working tight on the corner to give Fromm space to work the edge of the field. Instead, he has a 12 inch window to fit a ball in 30+ yards down the field. Easy right?

Fromm can throw the rock down field. He needs help from his receivers. The only ‘poor’ throw I remember is the post to GP1 out of the end zone. Maybe Pickens should have kept running instead of diving. Maybe Fromm should have put more air.

We can all second guess. For now JF11 is our guy. He’s the one that will dictate how far we can go. Let’s ride him and not trash ‘em!

If Fromm could hit the deep pass we would have more explosive plays than that.

I was in the stadium with a good view of all Jakes throws. He was off by several yards on MANY throws Saturday. It was hopefully just his annual “I forgot how to football” game. He was off. He’s still our guy and we are glad to have him, but he had a very bad day from an accuracy standpoint. I’m sure he will be extra sharp against UK.

I’m not saying he had his best game this past Saturday. I’m just stating Fromm can and will throw the ball down the field accurately.

And you’re comparing Fromm to his best self. He’s known for his accuracy. When he has a not Fromm day he’s quickly discarded. But you know what...go watch the contested balls of our competitors. Watch the receivers go ‘win’ the ball. If they’re expecting the rock to be put in a basket every play while being draped by a defender they’re sorely mistaken.

Everyone needs to help everyone. Linemen picking up guys on the next level. Receivers sustaining blocks. Running backs giving second efforts. Receivers making plays.

Totally agree, CBB...I know he is capable of much better, and Im not gonna dig through threads to find it, but I’ve said several times that the receivers haven’t been helping him out by fighting for the ball when it hits them in the hands in tight coverage. Meansonny has been preaching the same. That being said, Saturday was on Jake to a pretty large extent. He was just off. All those throws that are normally in just the right spot...they were off by several feet to several yards in many cases. He will bounce back and I expect UK to be unhappy with the public unwanted sexing they receive between the hedges this Saturday.
