I’m just saying we will find out pretty quick what kind of qb he is after a trip to Knoxville then a home game with bama after that

You hated Stet and thought he sucked till the day he left campus.

I haven't been back since. The complete absurdity of so many dawg fans around Stetson Bennett should be studied by psychologists.

Pretty sure you went back when I call you out for being banned (which you were not)

Yeah, you have to walk on eggshells if you present a different opinion.

That was my sole purpose for "going back" to prove you wrong. Haven't been since.

This was your hot take and entry to this thread. About the current QB.

We have 90 minutes of tape on him and I have not said one negative thing about him bc he went up against two of the better defenses in the country last year. But this is why I believe my first comment that I made about the qb position

Many people believe that Stetson was greatest qb at UGA of all time proves the point I’ve been trying to make. While Stet wasn’t great in 2020, he was good in 2021 and great in 2022. But I believe(my opinion) the qb room is the one weakness kirby has. We watched him pick every other qb besides Stetson for years. Didn’t win the job over Mathis in 2020 after Jamie Newman bailed on us. Lost his job later that year to JT when he started the peach bowl against Cincinnati. JT kept his job for the next few games the following season only to lose it to injury. And even after Stet helped his team win a NC, Kirby still went out in the offseason and pursued Caleb Williams(I did not hear that from Kirby himself but it was rumored). Am I the only one who saw all of that? And I won’t mention Justin Fields bc everyone knew he had a higher ceiling than Fromm. And then Beck deciding to stay in college for another year. Why would you not want him returning to start a 3rd year? I’m hoping it’s bc Gunner is the real deal bc I honestly believe Kirby would have pursued a QB in the portal if he didn’t.

But that’s the last thing I’ll say about the mailman Pete.

JT was an investment and it gets coming out of his and USC , Stetson was a walkon.... JT had everything but mobility and a dependable body.

If you go back to the Arkansas game we were losing with Mathis, you can see the offense go into overdrive with Stetson inserted. He lost his job over a bad day versus UF with a dislocated shoulder ..... A day our defense took a massive shite, the O did enough to win that game with the normal output of Kirbys defenses.

LeCounte and several of the defensive leaders told Kirby Stetson was legit, they were just blinded by blue chipitus.

Yes, Stetson is the most consequential QB to ever play at UGA and it's not even close. He should have been in the mix the entire time.

This has been a fun debate for years but I can sum it up with the following. .

We’ve had a number of QBs come through the system under Smart with exceptional talent. Eason, Fields, Daniels, Beck, etc. on paper looked much better than Stetson. However, I would argue that the reason Stet s the GOAT is that he had more moxy and heart than any QB we’ve had at UGA in my memory with maybe the exception of Murray. Even when he fricked up or did something to put us behind, I’ve never seen a QB that could will us back into the lead like Stet. The only way CKS figured that out was in actual live gameplay….which is the only time that comes out. Fromm had it too but not at the level of Stet.

Sure he had a whole team but if you watch the clutch 21 and 22 games it really is amazing we pulled some of those out.

ETA: sure we needed OState to miss their FG but Stet put us in the lead. So IMO that’s in the D for letting dickhead run for 50 yds to get them in FG range in that drive.

^ This is it in a nutshell

He didn't become "good" in 2021 until he showed he could beat Bama in the Natty. When he threw 2 INT's in the SECG, no one on this board was claiming he was going to be some GOAT

Where’s the lie?
He’s put plenty of players in the NFL except one position…

Would you hold the QB room to a higher standard than Kirby?

In 2020, Stetson was the preseason #3 QB (#4 if Daniels had been healthy). He came on when needed and played well until he was injured. JT played well until he was injured. After Stetson replaced JT in 2021 Kirby saw the response from the team with him on the field. That's why Stetson became the undisputed starter.

And, similar to Fromm, how do you replace a guy that’s winning? Short answer…you don’t.

Every QB we’ve had that saw significant snaps has made the NFL…with one exception, and he medically retired from football.
