Bobo smart and richt would be the holy Trinidad on the recruiting trail and the S&C coach would be the cream cheese on tobago

We need to hurry this shite up...3 weeks til signing day...we need to lock down a DC asap.
Honestly, this feels like the last DC search we had. Gotta feeling Bama will match and prob beat our offering.
Hope we have a solid contingency plan.

Agreed, I don't think we will go internal even if we miss on Pruitt and Smart. When you factor in McGarity's statements about the new coaches giving the program a shot of adrenaline, I just don't see it happening.

Exactly. Unless he was just talking to hear himself speak, there's no way ANY internal candidate would be a shot of adrenaline. Pretty sure we're going outside no matter what.
Plus, as I've said recently, Richt and mcgarity aren't stupid. They know this year is massive when it comes to the future of the program. We need a major, home run hire and I think they're going to do everything they can to make it happen.

I'm hearing Pendergast as a number 3 guy. Don't know much about him though. Probably no more than names people are throwing out there.

Everyone said the same thing in 2010 after a few miserable years and we hired a no name guy. Nothing suprises me anymore.

Ummm...what? Grantham was anything but a no-name guy. Most bama fans will tell you that around that time, if Smart left Grantham was going to be one of the first people Saban called. Guy had a good history with other big name coaches, plus NFL DC experience. Just because you hadn't heard of him doesn't mean he was a no name.

How many hookers do we need to send MCG to get the checkbook opened up.....or maybe just one with some pics in a very precarious position.

I don't know too much about him, but apparently he runs a 5-2 (which in his scheme is somewhat similar to a 3-4, somehow?) but one think I laughed at was he has a 'psycho package' where sometimes they'll line up with 2, 1, or even 0 down linemen

$1.6M is an assload of money for a coordinator. Honest question...at what point to do you say no way man we're not paying that much? The only reason Smart even gets close to being worth this much money is if he can pull Cochran.
If we don't get Smart because for some reason he wouldn't move for $1.6M, everybody needs to Chile the hell out and lets find somebody else.

He was a no name to Dawg fans. He also had no recruting merits in Georgia and no history here. I was very suprised by the hire. I supported him 100pct and liked the idea of the 3-4 but I don't think anyone was particularly jumping up and down when he was hired.

If we're starting at 1.6 and willing to negotiate with Sexton, I'd say that's pretty good faith that we're willing to do what it takes. While Bama certainly has the resources to match, they're oging to have to start thinking about how far they want to go down the road as Kirby approaches the 2 million mark. That's essentially paying two head football coaches + whatever they're paying Kiffin and Co. + the AD wants to make a run at Bruce Pearl and improve basketball. Eventually, money is going to get spread thin all in the name of keeping a coordinator around.

Different times. We're better off now and Bama is gutting their staff

Disagree. What would you pay for a consistent shut down, top 10 defense? What would you pay for an outstanding recruiter? What would you pay for someone who could end up being this coach's and this generation's Erk?
I, for one, would pay market plus. I am sick of shitty defenses.
FWIW, Bobo deserves a raise.

Shite, while we're getting in an arms race with Bama, let's make a run at Pearl too. Stare the gumps in face and make it rain.

It is a 3-4 under. Just different gap assignments.

Only because of the perception that we had "lost" on our higher candidates. It'll be the same as this year...ANYONE we get who isn't named Kirby or Pruitt and fans will be bummed because it's not one of those guys. Same as 2010, Grantham was a fine candidate and at the time was a great hire (obviously hindsight says differently), people were only upset because they put ALL of their hopes on one guy, who we didn't get.

I think you have grossly underestimated the willingness to do whatever it takes to win at Alabama. There administration has proved time and time again they will do whatever it takes to win. If they can keep Saban from Texas...they can surely keep Smart from UGA.
My point is:
1) I hope we offer more than money, its going to take that to get him out of the amazing situation he has at Bama.
2) I hope we have a solid contingency plan because we dont wanna get caught shopping in the discount isle like we did last time (and make no mistake, we were turned down 5-6 times before we finally SETTLED for Grantham).
3) It needs to be quick....recruits are watching.

Would love it, but I think the stink of Harrick is still lingering. Not sure UGA will want to jump in bed with a guy who was dismissed from UTk for improprieties (no matter how trivial they may seem).
