You can park close to the stadium for $40, if you're riding by yourself that splits out to the equivalent of whatever food you'd buy inside the stadium. I certainly get being frugal but sometimes it just ain't worth it to save a few pennies.
Yeah, I ain't scared to spend money.

I was also meaning to ask you if we could get there by water. I didn't know if this was possible, practical or something that people did. I read a thread on another site explaining how you might be able to achieve this coming in from the Atlantic. Do you think we could get up in there in your flatbottom?
You'd come in from the Altamaha sound behind Little Sait Simon's Island. At the fork, keep right up the Oconee River.
At lake sinclair you'll need to drag your boat around the dam.
A little while later, you'll need to drag your boat around the dam at Lake Oconee.
A few more miles upstream you'll need to drag your boat around Barnett Shoals dam.
Home stretch now.... four miles later you'll need to turn right up the North Oconee.
When you start to see headstones in a cemetary, be on the lookout for a small tributary on the left. Take it directly underneath Sanford Stadium.

I'll edit to add in what the other dude said (this may have even been you):
"Theoretically you could get to Athens, but you'd be going upstream the entire way. Starting in the Atlantic, you'd enter the Altamaha River around Brunswick on the a Georgia coast. Around Lumber City in southeast Georgia, that river branches off into the Ocmulgee and the Oconee. You'd take the Oconee north, and following that north would get you all the way to Athens and within sight of Sanford Stadium.
Once you're level with the stadium, you'd turn into Tanyard Creek and that would take you right up to, underneath, and all the way to the other end of Sanford."

Wat?
Is not that far.
Dude IDGAF how in shape you are, prince avenue to the stadium is a fricking haul. Especially on the way back after the game when it's all uphill.

That's a long drive on a Tuesday in July.....

No BMX for me, but here's one just like mine--a good multi-purpose bike. But they'll all come in second in car collisions.

Well, I have a ticket and looks like I'll be getting into Athens around 11:00 AM, hopefully earlier.
What should I do with the extra time???

Extra time? You're late. Find a tailgate and start getting shitfaced.
Or go downtown and find a place to grab lunch and kill a few hours.

Can't drink so that's out the window.
Any recommendations on where to eat??? Any great BBQ places around the stadium or in that vicinity??

Nope. Not a one.
Didn't you hear? The BBQ scene in Athens (and Georgia as a whole) is so shitty, our honorable AD had to go to Tuscaloosa to find meat that our fans wouldn't immediately spit out in disgust.

Only one choice downtown, dawg gone bbq on Hancock and Hull. It's pretty good.
Other place walking distance, long walk, is either Pulaski Bbq or the new place on Broad halfway to the Varsity, someone will say the name. It escapes me. Also decent walk.

The walk to the place on Broad would walk you right through Spunk's tailgate. Just look for the overgrown frat boy exchanging cash with a crackhead on the edge of the bamboo. That's Spunky.

Best bbq in town is a really really long walk down prince to boulevard neighborhood... White Tiger.

You may laugh, but if I could find a place to put my boat in, I would do this. It's a jet drive and will do the river. Has a deck big enough to pitch a tent on and tailgate/deckgate on.

SemperFi, I know where you could illegally put a boat in, above the barnett shoals dam. Very trespassy. But you could damn sure get your jet drive up to Sanford. Good fishing around the old Whitehall Mill too.

I suggest you get to your spot at noon and start drinking brown liquor - then at 6 jump on your bike and ride on down to the stadium.
Let me know what time and route you plan on doing this so I can go watch.
