Already some glowing reviews on Fields:

From the AJC:

Nauta - "He's got a cannon," "He's a big physical kid...He's a really good kid too. I like the way he acts and his demeanor. He doesn't get too big of a head. He's very level-headed. And coming in to a place like this that's what you've got to be."

Godwin - "In 7-on-7, he's been out there throwing the ball, knowing the checks and everything. He's carrying himself very well."

Awww, shite...

Knock on wood and all of that stuff, but I don't see a regular season game that we should lose.

I was a bit concerned about LSU, but they lost their QB, RB and complete secondary and D'ends.

This year could be a similar run to last year, IMO.

However, I do want to play Bama in the SECG and go ahead and get that game out of the way.

I Honestly think both us and bama will go 12-0, I just don't see a team on either schedule that's gonna be better than either.

I suppose we're gonna have to beat them eventually if we want to take the next step, but it would be nice not to have to play them in that setting. My biggest concern is that by all accounts, on paper at least, they should be even better htan last year and we should be a tick worse. Would take a herculean effort to beat them if both teams are healthy in that game.

With that said, if that is how things play out and we beat them to knock them out of the playoffs, I don't see any team in the field that would beat us.

If this scenario plays out, and we do meet Alabama in the SEC Championship game, and lose, we might get a second chance in the Playoffs. Pure speculation, of course.

It's possible, but I don't really see it. Bama had a few things go their way last year to get in:

-although they didn't win their division, the division winner got blown out
-they were one of the "best teams" when healthy which the committee looks at
-but most importantly of all, the only team they were contending with for the 4th spot had 1 more loss, one of which was AWFUL and inexcusable
-they have bama clout

If our scenario plays out and we're a 12-1 non conference winner, bama obviously goes. The ACC champ (almost surely clemson) is a lock. The big 12 and big 10 champs will have a great case. It woudl likely take a scenario like last year where one of the conference champs has more losses than us, and a bad one at that.

No doubt.

Continuing with the same scenario - While UGA has no conference championship, in fact, a loss in the championship to last year's NC, they are still 12-0 in the regular season. SEC-wise that is pretty impressive.

In addition, I don't see any conference champion from the Pac-12, Big 10, or 12 finishing without at least 1 loss.

The ACC, well, Clemson will be there with bells on.

We will be SEC East Champs and playing NY6 next year.

Then we will be National Champs from 2019 until at least 2026.

In all seriousness I hope to be pleasantly surprised next year like I was this year. Trying to keep my expectations even keeled. I worry about our defense though. Roquan is going to be hard to replace. He may be the best defensive player I've ever seen at UGA and I've been watching over 35 seasons now.

I love the way you think!!!!!

Funny you mentioned Roquan Smith, I work with a unbelievably obnoxious die-hard Auburn fan and he says he's the best defensive player he has seen on any team.

Just came here to say that Isaiah Wilson looks like an absolute mastodon.

You see the guns on Holyfield? The caption underneath that photo was hilarious.

I'm dying to hear how Cade Mays is doing in our S&C program. Can't wait till he busts some mouths against Tennessee, especially after they were singing the blues about how he played soft his SR year of HS.

Read another report elsewhere last night that Fields didn't look terribly sharp, but that his talent was evident. To be expected, I'm sure.

Scott Sinclair deserves a raise! Netori Johnson's belly is gone, and Isaiah Wilson looks like a machine. Not to mention Holyfield is going to hurt some defenders this season

Hope they are not working on kicking drills and bundle up.
Or move everything indoors

Weather here in Athens yesterday and today has flat out sucked. Wind is howling, balls cold.
Spring my arse.......

We will be tailgating for G day if anyone wants to stop by Hoke Smith Annex and have a beer or 20.
