Should the Alabama game be postponed?

If it turns out the storm becomes a hurricane and heads towards Alabama should this Saturday's game be postponed?
After all, we shouldn't put anyone's life into danger just to be at or play in the game.

no, people are flipping their shite over this. The game will be played, in tuscaloosa, saturday night, with likely rains and winds present.
The talk of delaying the game to Sunday, or moving to Friday, or moving it to tampa or charlotte or atlanta or athens are just comically ridiculous.

It will be if driving conditions saturday turn bad.

My unedcuated guess is that there's a 75 percent chance that they keep the same kickoff time, and a 25 percent chance they move it to noon to keep people off the road at night.

I hope the weather is not so bad that the game can't be played but if it turns into a type two hurricane and heads directly at Tuscaloosa I don't see how they can not postpone the game.

yesterday this seemed like the move. As of now though based on the storm speeding it up it appears that it'll be moving through the state/region during the day and be away from ttown by night. If that does end up being the case I can't see them moving the game up, hell if anythign they may even move it back another hour.

So it just sucks for the 100k people traveling to it....

if its bad during travel times, it will be postponed

You're not keeping up with current events. I just read that the idea of cancelling the game is still on the table. They're saying even if the storm moves through, there could be wind damage and flooding that slows travel and widespread power outages in the area.

well the most current thing we have says it'll be out of the way by kickoff so that's about the best case scenario for now.

everything is "on the table", regardless of how miniscule the chance might be. The game isn't getting canceled.

they aren't going to cancel a game because some fans may not be able to attend like they want to. Every October, every year, there are hurricanes all throughout the gulf region and somehow games move forward anyway.

Cancelling? And not postponing? Dang. I think it's highly likely the game is postponed or affected in some way. It sucks because it's one of the biggest games this year for college football. The school officials will have a lot of pressure to keep people off the road if there are storm conditions. They should move the game to Sunday afternoon or evening.

I'm still hoping the storm track turns east and heads towards Florida.

The Bama Board is talking about moving it to the 24th where we both already have bye weeks.

That's probably a joke.
They have a home game against A&M that day.
If they want to double up and play 2 games that day, I'm fine with that.

Way more to consider when it comes to postponing a game in this situation than just fans making it to the game.
Operations such as emergency services (PD, Fire), the hundreds of part time stadium staff (sometimes they have a portion that are bussed in, especially for big games), and the facility operations (setup of gates/security checkpoints, concessions, game day deliveries of essentials) can all be affected by a hurricane coming through hours before kickoff.
I’ve worked in a couple of P4 athletic departments including one in the southeast where we had to monitor hurricanes probably half a dozen times over a few football seasons and we ended up with a couple of postponed games. I think we postponed one when a hurricane came through on like a Wednesday or Thursday but I’d have to go back and look. A lot of logistics people don’t think about, so don’t be too surprised if the game is affected even if it’s not raining Saturday at 7.

I think maybe they were talking about moving the AnM game to their bye week before LSU then they'd have a bye on the 24th to play us.

A&M isn't doing Bama any favors.
Can you imagine securing a flight, hotel, and rental car for the @Bama game for them to move the game so they can accommodate something that Bama wants to do?
