Life has been whooping my arse! I'm heading down to Naples Florida for Nurse Anesthesia school in October. I have been so busy with work and family havn't had a chance to really get online ...It's a work in progress........That dramatic ending against Bama last year..wow!...I have to admit..it took some wind out of my sails...it's hard being a fan,,,gotta pick up the pieces and move forward..
Ha...I will have to check out the rules for this place...and do more better with the posting and the pics!!

You should, it really sounds like I screwed up. I really don't get how I have been in Athens for so long and been a weekend visitor since birth and yet have eaten at so few of these classic places. I blame my parenting and myself.

I don't know if there is another diatribe in the Flagpole like there was before the East side location went under, where my wife was a manager before she got in school, but I can tell you their business model if almost perfect as long as food/commodity prices are stable, and rent is stable.
A franschisee for Five Star is their own general manager, it's not like a franchise you buy and hire a general manager and collect your profit each quarter, the model is that you are the general manager and that is your full time job, and you clear around $80k a year, about 7% margin.
When food prices and rent go up 7 %, no more business model.
It is sad, and they join the very long list of Athens institutions that went extinct.

Pretty sure that space in front of that Marriott that is a new frat house (can't remember it just went in right before I graduated) was a taco Mac a few years back. Would've been awesome to have one in Athens when I was there.
