Brooks just did a film (HS) breakdown. I watched it. I now know.

Puglisi is the more complete quarterback, can do it all, the long balls, the touch, the piss ropes over the middle, and can tuck and run like a son of a bitch. That's why ray-ray got scared looking at pug and gunner in front of him. Now that I know the facts, I can't blame little ray-ray for flipping to nebraska. It's what I'd advise my own son to do.

That may well be the case down the road but right now it is not. I saw Raiola make high level throws every game this season, most of the time under extreme duress due to Buford’s putrid offensive line. He’s more polished as a passer right now. That has never really been up for debate. It’s ok to say “He’s good. Sucks he’s not coming here anymore.”

Now what is also not up for debate is Pug’s ceiling is higher. Raiola can be as great of an arm talent as there ever was, but he’s the son of an o-lineman and you can see it. He’s tough to bring down cause he’s 6’3” 230 in high school, but he’s not very gifted as a runner. Puglisi is far more athletic and willing to run. I’ll say it til I’m blue in the face, but unless every other piece around the QB, especially the o-line, is fantastic, Kirby was 1000% right when he said in today’s game you need a certain amount of athleticism as a QB. Hell, I hope Beck comes back, but even sometimes with him I wonder if he’s not quite fast enough.

TLDR: Pug and Raiola are both good. Raiola better right now. Athletic Limitations. Pug can be better in future. Better athlete.

Puglisi breakdown-

I saw these on his 2 hour live show last night but he broke them into separate videos for replay purposes, more clicks for him I guess.

Tell me Ray Ray is a better QB than Puglisi after watching those videos.

Yes. They don’t translate into winning college games though.

But you'd agree the videos show that Pug is the all-around better QB on the tapes.

From what I’ve seen leading up to a few weeks ago, it was Pug!
Raiola (my opinion) seemed like he figured he’s the best player on the field and he expected certain things when he walked on campus.
Pug, has said all of the correct things on how he wants to compete everyday, and is always looking to get better. That being said his attitude could change after a few bad practices and Kirby is lodged in his anal cavity.. IDK!

Like everyone else, I want the guy who wants to be a Dawg.

But, it’s hard to say one will be better than the other based off what even Brooks admitted was cherry-picked highlight footage for both guys. The highlight reels aren’t going to show you a string of 7 errant passes in a row. We don’t know how accurate either of them is down to down, drive to drive, blitzed or not blitzed, etc. without watching entire game films.

This is all correct, it's all projection.

A related point I saw Uncle Lou make the other day, he went back through 247 QB rankings over the last several years in sort of a "where are they now?" segment. It was pretty eye opening. Beck was the 9th QB in his class. When you look at all the other QB's ranked ahead of him, only one other guy ended up having quality careers. Most of the other QB's on the list you've never heard of and never will hear of again. The point being- just because Raiola is #2 and Puglisi is #9 doesn't really mean shite, statistically. Of course, in the grand scheme, 5 stars tend to do better than 4 stars, and on down the line. But the individual player ranking is not very relevant.

Some edits made above.

A perfect illustration of that was the year Stafford came to UGA, there was a little handwringing that Arkansas got the #1 QB Mitch Mustain, who never really became anything and probably cost Nutt his job at Arky. Stafford was the #1 overall pick, a SB champ and is probably borderline HOF at this point.

Stetson wasn't supposed to be awesome but Jacob Eason was. The best experts make terrible mistakes evaluating QBs.

DR is a better HS QB. Puglisi has all of the tools, though. He just might have a higher ceiling.
