The East will rise up and become the dominate side of the conference again. We are in the top tier of the conference. South Carolina is in the process of getting there.

Mullen to Florida will really help them and if Pruitt can make it through year two Tennessee will se a resurgence. The East will become very competitive but the problem is they let Kirby and Company get start and it’s no turning back from here.

Personally, I think Mullen and Pruitt are too late in the game to get their programs caught back up with UGA and Muschamp is the only once I see giving us a true run consistently every few years but he may not have the talent base to keep up ether.

Theres some talk of Pruitt trying to bring over Rush Propst on staff. Theyre still pretty tight and probst would be a huge recruiting asset. pruitt not fricking around when it comes to landing talent

It looks like a lot of recruiting warriors up in knoxville, and they are targeting even more.

That does worry me. I don't want to lose any recruiting battles to Tennessee.

I do like that they have Rocker. I think he will be a recruiting liability. Good coach. But my biggest focus right now is the recruiting battles in the trenches.

He's made it abundantly clear that the state of Ga is his primary focus. he and Kirby are cut from the same cloth as tireless alpha recruiters. there'll be some heated battles for sure

He wasn't a real threat at Bama and you think him at Tennessee is more of a draw? I'm not sure the logic is sound.

Yeah... I have a hard time figuring out what makes Pruitt a better supposed hire (strictly as a coach - PSU situation aside) than Schiano who the Vols ran off.

Schiano actually had a track record of taking a pretty poor program and having moderate success with them during a time when the Big East was probably at or near its peak in terms of overall conference success.

Pruitt obviously has some personal issues with regards to managing his emotions and how he interacts with other people. Perhaps he gets that under wraps and manages to hold a staff together early on, but increased stress will likely boil this back to the surface before too long.

Let's look at their upcoming schedule over the next few seasons:

2018:
WVU
ETSU
UTEP
UF
@UGA
Bye
@Auburn
Alabama
@South Carolina
Charlotte
Kentucky
Mizzou
@Vandy

I count a minimum of 4 highly probable losses (bold)... much more likely to be 6+ in 2018 (italics are probably the bigger toss ups, but Vandy/Mizzou/UK are all ?s based on what we saw this year).

Pruitt going to need to show improvement from 2017 to at least get the recruiting going a bit smoother in his first full cycle. I'd imagine he's able to do that with a 6-6 bowl game season... going to have to grind to get there, but possible.

2019:
Don't have the full schedule order, but better looking OOC in terms of getting some wins:
GA State, BYU, Chattanooga, UAB... no telling what rosters will look like at that point, but would have to imagine this OOC slate goes 3-1 or better for UT. Any worse and Pruitt will be burning shite to the ground. Probably a pretty good draw from the west in Miss St (at home) under fellow second year head coach Moorhead.

IF they manage 6+ wins in year 1 and round out with a good recruiting class, this schedule sets up pretty ok for them to potentially have a 9-10 win type season if the roster is improving and Pruitt is having success. Lot will depend on what's going on at other programs by now. USC QB situation - does Bentley stick around? Mizzou - does Odom survive without Heupel? UK - are they going to continue trending up or revert?

2020:
This would be the ideal time for UT to really have a solid roster turnaround. They have a gimme game against Charlotte to open. Then go to Norman to play @ Oklahoma. Furman to follow and one more OOC game to be scheduled, would imagine another cupcake. Problem being this is the year where UGA is away again, as is South Carolina and their rotating west opponent of Arkansas (with fellow third year coach Morris).

I'm curious to see what the level of patience will be at UT and whether Pruitt can recruit in spite of probably a not great first 3 years from a success standpoint. It's tough to predict where all of these programs will be in 2019 and beyond, but if I'm going with most likely, I could see 2020 being another 5 loss season and really derailing any positive momentum for UT coming out of 2019.

exactly. He will improve their recruiting simply becuse it'd be almost impossible not to coming off of damn dooley and butch jones. But I mean why do people think he's going to really threaten us? He's never been a head coach and UT is a dumpster fire right now. I don't see him being any more effective than Muschamp, and muschamp actually could sell being a HC before (with some moderate success) and having excellent defenses (I'm sure that will be a big point for pruitt). And MW isn't really much of a thorn in our side, he'll win a battle here and there but rest assured Kirby is getting the fair share of who we want in GA.

Pruitt will help UTk. We need them to recruit some kids from rivals that we're not going after. A strong A&M after we play them would be cool as well!

Ps- I know he's going to implode, but he'll recruit a few good years. He's one of the best. He does what it takes.

Is Tennessee paying for a whole new family for Propst? Like he can just show up to Knoxville and a new wife and kids will be at the house waiting for him?

Tangent: Who was that piece of shite wide receiver that lied and jilted Richt on the last day because he was getting paid by the carpet king dad of his high school teammate/mediocre QB that signed with UT?

If I recall, karma got both those worthless traitors...

Yeah - that was the guy. Can't remember the QB teammate...he was like a 2-star that sat on the bench at UT...they only signed him to get Rogers...who went on to get suspended and then wound up at Tennessee Tech...didn't stick in the NFL but apparently he plays in the Canadian league. Hope he's freezing his butt off.
