I love that we're getting an appetizer tonight before the main show tomorrow. Games of interest that will determine the final playoff rankings:

Friday
#4 USC vs #11 Utah - 8pm

Saturday
#3 TCU vs #10 Kansas State - 12pm
#1 UGA vs #14 LSU - 4pm
#2 Michigan vs Purdue - 8pm

___

#9 Clemson vs #23 UNC - 8pm

That last one has no bearing on the playoffs but will determine the final P5 champion and would be nice to see clemson lose

What does UGA want?

-Personally, I'd prefer to make our path as easy as possible so just looking on paper we'd likely rather play USC than Ohio STate. So tonight I'm pulling hard for USC
-TCU point spread is only around 3 and many are calling for the upset. TCU is probably the team I'd most want to face ina playoffs though since I don't think we'd barely have to break a sweat against them, so I am for sure pulling hard for TCU
-Love the fact that USC and TCU games will both be decided prior to our kickoff.

I won't be watching tonight's game.

I'll be at Lakewood Stadium catching a HS playoff doubleheader- Mill Creek v Milton and then Rome v Langston Hughes.

does a usc win and a tcu close loss give us TCU in the semis?

if so, that's 100% what i want. problem is that opens up the door for ohio state and might not be worth the risk.

if usc and tcu win, we should forfeit and get the 2 seed

honeslty not real sure, OSU sitting there at 5 is a great backup plan for the committee to tag into the top 4 if they feel uncertain about anything. If USC wins they are obviously in so the committee would need ot determine if a 12-1 TCU that's been ranked in the top 4 of the playoffs since early Novemkber and won their divison is more worhy than an 11-1 OSU that's been ranked high all year but didn't win anything and got whooped in their biggest game of the year. Personally I think the committee is really high on TCU and their SOS but I have no clue what they'd do pickign betweent the 2 if it came down to it.

I would obviously prefer OSU not make the palyoffs so I'll just pull for straight chalk across the board

I personally think Ohio State is vastly overrated. Georgia would dominate them at the LOS.

USCw has a great QB and receivers. Their defense, like the rest of the PAC, is lacking.

TCU has been the luckiest of any of them. Would the luck continue?

Elimination game for USC, only 3 point favorites, a Heisman trophy at stake, Hell yeah, I’m in.

Nice. The USC & TCU games are almost like quarterfinal games. I really want to play USC in the semis myself. I think we match up well w/ a west coast team.

I’m pulling for a nail biter down to the wire facemelter with plenty of plot twists. With I guess USC coming out on top worn and weary.

Dawgs vs resurrected USC / Kirby vs Riley part 2 would be awesome if it shuffles out that way

Sounds perfect. Drink a bunch watching USC tonight and head out to the ATL hungover tomorrow.

I’m up to the challenge!

Fox needs to ditch their NFL theme and all the NFL reporters during college football coverage if they’re going to get such a big piece of college football going forward. Need a separate college football identity to brand something separate. (Or shite. Maybe this is just part of the NFLization of the once great sport along with the new 12 team season ending geeker tournament)

I also read today Fox poached Herbstreits best friend off of espn GameDay. The Bear fellow is moving to Fox

Symmetry Potential:

-Lincoln Riley loses to Dawgs in playoffs with a Heisman winner ‘17

-Lincoln Riley loses to Dawgs in playoffs with a Heisman winner ‘22

Early impressions:

-Williams is the real deal. He can break a defense down even in well-defended situations as well as Mayfield or Tua or Young. We can probably contain him, but it’s a definite “frick around and find out” situation.
-Interested to see how those receivers would handle some true, balls-to-the-walls man coverage. Utah’s running a lot of zone blitz stuff which is just begging to get burnt.
-SC’s defense looks susceptible to perimeter runs and short-to-mid-range passes. Looks like Todd Monken eat your heart out.

Overall, I would like the matchup. Williams can frick you over, but he’d have to do it pretty close to by himself.

Utah’s defense sucks. They aren’t wrapping and tackling. They blew coverage on two big plays so far. Williams is good, but Bennett could do as well against the Utes tonight.

I was thinking about this a bit ago. UGA has been to the playoffs twice and has beaten the Heisman winner in both years. We have a chance to go 3 for 3 this year.

UGA: the Heisman killers

When’s the last time you’ve watched a half a Georgia game with as few penaltiy flags as this one has had?

Something is rotten with the refs in our league

None of the D backs are close enough to the receivers to interfere.
