Forgot to do this last week, and will provide explanations for each team later, but a quick opinion of each team that still has a legitimate playoff shot:

ACC: Florida State
B1G: Michigan State, Ohio State, Nebraska
B12: TCU, Kansas State, Baylor
Pac12: Oregon
SEC: Alabama, Auburn, Miss St, Ole Miss, Georgia
Others: Notre Dame

ETA: I completely forgot that Nebraska is 6-1 still and has a schedule that's as soft as baby shite. They could go 11-1 into B1GCG, and Abdullah could go off on the right day.

Just off the top of my head there has to be at least one more contender in the PAC 12 other than Oregon

Any one loss team in the power 5 has a shot.

Utah and Oregon St each have one loss but it won't stay that way. Both still have the tough parts of their schedule ahead of them.

Unfortunately it seems very likely Michigan St. is gonna get in. They are still at #8 and will get a bump when they beat OSU. Their schedule is so ridiculously easy I can't see them losing again.

I have no problem with MSU. They play good football. If any other B1G team gets in- then I'll be pissed.

Sparty's definitely the lesser of the B1G evils. I respect the hell out of the team that Dantonio and Narduzzi put on the field.

I fully expect MSU to beat Ohio State like a drum on November 8, and they'll coast into B1GCG with one loss (at Oregon, bad). They'll see either Nebraska or Wisconsin and probably clobber one of those two. If that scenario plays out, it'll be hard to keep them out....and it'll be hard to beat them.

MSU is always playing their best football at the end of the season. They had a he's scratching loss at ND early last season, and I thought they could have beaten either FSU or Auburn at the end.

This year, they had another head scratching loss early (getting blown out at Oregon), but they look like they're starting to really find themselves.

Let's assume you're right, and also that FSU and Oregon win out.

Then we beat Miss St/Ole Miss/Bama in the SECCG ( )

FSU (13-0)
Oregon (12-1)
Mich State (12-1)
UGA (12-1)
Miss St/Ole Miss/Bama (11-1)

Controversy starts....NOW. Who goes?

You should definitely include Arizona as well. I also believe that there is a good possibility a 2 loss team can get in the playoff.

the top 4 teams you listed, since they're all conference champs.

I don't think for a second that a two loss Arizona team gets in. I think they have at least one more loss on their schedule.

That scenario doesn't even factor in a potential one loss ND team. Maybe the committee leaving them out would finally push them into joining a conference full time.

Plausible scenario with no team from the SEC West. Can't imagine the media frenzy on that one. Especially considering the 4 team playoff was supposed to help reduce controversy, lol

I do not disagree with your 4 team placement either. I also wouldn't disagree if a SEC West team made it and Mich St/Oregon got snubbed.

If that's the way it plays out, not much controversy...

FSU (13-0)
Oregon (12-1)
Mich State (12-1)
UGA (12-1) As the SECCG winner with wins over Top 10 Aub & Top 3 Miss St/Ole Miss/Bama in the SECCG the last month of the season...

I feel sure they send one loss Conf. Champs 1st this year, minus a 1 loss B12 Baylor/TCU

Agree this and I believe winning a conference championship will be a priority for the selection committee. This why I think the Big 12 is somewhat in a bad position by not having a conference championship game. I also think this premise will make it very difficult for 2 teams from the same conference to get into the playoffs by design. I promise you most of the nation does not want to see an all SEC championship game again.

Glad I'm not in the SEC West. I can't imagine beating 4 ranked teams (3 top 10) and still not making the playoffs...behind a team (Michigan State) that has 2 wins against ranked teams, and 0 potentially against top 10 teams.

B1G: Michigan State, Ohio State

Michigan St. has Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State left. They could lose any of these and thta would eliminate them.

Ohio State has Michigan State, Penn State, Minnesota and Michigan left. All loseable. Minnesota only has one loss, so they, too, could be considered a contender.

B12: TCU, Kansas State, Baylor

TCU has West Virginia and Kansas State left.
West Virginia has Kansas State, TCU and Oklahoma State left
Baylor has Oklahoma and Kansas State left.

Pac12: Oregon

Oregon has Stanford and Utah left and PAC 12 game?

quote:

Others: Notre Dame

Notre Dame has Arizona State, Louisville and USCw

Florida State has Virginia and Miami left and ACC championship game.

Looks to me like the easiest path to the Playoffs is Notre Dame and Florida State. The emdia LOVES Notre Dame and they WILL make it. They also want Florida State in there....but they have an easy schedule, so they will be there.

Chances of two SEC teams making it are slim....VERY slim. EVERYTHING would have to fall just right. The ONLY way georgia makes it is to win out and win the SECCG.

Looking at things with as non biased way as I can I would say the playoffs will be Florida State, Notre Dame, TCU and the winner of the SEC. Honestly? I think it will be Mississippi State, but we will see.

We'll see what happens when the playoff committee releases their top 25.

I don't think it will vary much from the AP, but you never know. This will be the first one.
