Am I missing something?

Obviously, we all deal with losses differently, but the number of “couldn’t happen to a better fan base” and “the melt is glorious” type posts on the SECrant seems seriously out of proportion to what is actually happening.

I’m actually feeling ok right now, at least compared to the last few losses.

I’m not going to lie...last night was worse for me than the NCG last January...but I don’t think I melted too hard here. Like yourself. I feel ok today.

Same here. Yes, I was somewhat hoping the committee would have chosen us over OK but they didn't and we're going to the Sugar Bowl and I am content with that. No reason to melt. We did a lot better this season than the talking heads said we would do.

Going into the game I expected a close loss and that’s what happened in the end. I wasn’t going to let myself “move the goalposts” until it was over and we won. Only part I got upset about was the fake punt. I’m proud of this team and I just hope they stay motivated to stomp the horns.

I wasn’t ok until I realized today that we really overachieved these past 2 seasons. I never got the feeling last year or this year that the national title was ours for the taking.

That feeling is reserved for next year and forward. Recruiting foundation and depth will be on a level it’s never been it. I will have very high expectations and will be very critical of our coaching staff from here on out.

A melt now would be nothing like a melt starting next year. I will not accept not winning it all within the next 2 years.

And I’m not so upset about not getting in the playoffs. I’d rather lose close to Bama now, beat Texas and have a solid year over beating Bama in the SEC, and losing to them in the natty. That would be a worse feeling to me. It would be very difficult to beat them twice in a row.

This wasn’t the year. We lost to LSU badly and greatly improved enough to almost beat Bama. On our natty run we won’t be losing to anyone by 20 points.

We were still growing up. Kirby’s young guys beat out a lot of Richt upperclassmen and it made for a big transition for them.

We won’t be having these issues anymore.

People say this just to make themselves feel better. Typically you will see it from an Auburn fan because they are still hurting over last year and then what their program has turned into.

Agree. It sucks, but I like where we are currently heading. It would be better to have beaten Bama for sure, especially when we were in position to do it both times, but we are ahead of where anyone, realistically, thought we would be.

The fake punt was horrificly stupid. But, looking at it through a different lens, Kirby is changing the mindset of this program, which takes longer than just changing it’s player personnel. The entire Dawgnation (not the AJC website) had become indoctrinated with “good enough”. I’m not saying it was an a accepted mindset, just one we’d gotten used to. Kirby isn’t afraid to bring the fight to anyone at anytime. The culture and mindset are changing. And, Kirby will grow and learn. I’d rather have an aggressive approach and take the lumps now, even as much as it disappoints at the moment. Kirby, albeit not the wisest of in game coaches (yet), is being aggressive. He will mature as a coach. His decision making will become more strategic and tactical, and his aggressive approach will establish and sustain a predator’s mindset. We’ll take our lumps, but the overall mindset is changing. We have hoped to win for so long, but we are ALMOST to the point of expecting to win. The players are there, and the rest of Dawgnation is coming around.

I think other fanbases, mainly Auburn, are melting for us and then attributing it back.

That being said, I did piss off the all star team of obnoxious Auburn posters when I linked them to the Alabama admissions page.

I really didn’t witness much melting. As you noted, it was mostly posters from other fan bases stirring the pot. I guess there was one porn bomb casualty. Am I missing any others?

He actually started a thread on the GSB after the game saying it has been nice knowing you or something along those lines.

I don’t remember exactly but it was one of the posters with “dawgs lyfe” in the name. I saw the thread and it was a poster with numerous posts. I get them confused because it seems like there are a few using those words in conjunction with numbers.

Yeah, this one dude applied for the AD job on here listing his qualifications as

-knowing the CEO of Pet Smart
-rubbing elbows with Carmellow on sidelines at Sanford Stadium

..and then he woke up and deleted it. And all his other tantrum threads.

Other than that, it was just the regular quitters, and some fair-weather quitters, who herded up like orangutangs at the zoo and shite in their hands and threw it at people that refused to join them in their cowardly frown-faced ****ry. That's about it.

I want to say it was like dawgs4lyfe maybe. I accidentally opened it on MARTA which was a hilarious mistake.

I believe that’s right. I looked a few pages over and one of his threads still appears there although I guess all others are gone? He had a Falcons logo for his team.
