We’re on vacation and it’s the norm around here. Is it the economy? Is it lazy fricks (I think so). Is it a combination of all the above? It’s honestly disheartening and feels like we’ve been set back decades. frick Joe… I hope he dies tonight FWIW…

Where are you vacationing? When I lived in NV everything closed at that time. This was 10 years ago or more.

Lack of workers, 100%. That’s the epidemic.

We have restaurants in town that have stayed curbside/drive-thru only because they can't get full shifts of workers

Mostly workers. Others got used to the new routine and liked it.

You know why.

“It’s cause all those highly skilled workers deserve $15. “

Our government solved a problem they created with an even bigger problem of an egotistical, unskilled, and entitled work force and has no signs improving.

I had to fly commercial a good bit the last 2 months. It appears the nations low wage earners are flying to Florida, Veags, and South Carolina for extended vacations.

Probably a combination of worker shortages and supply chain disruptions. Taco Bell out here is closing early every night for lack of workers, but they also have an ingredients shortage across the country.

Nothing hurts the economy quite like the help from the government.

Who eats supper that late anyway? You should be on your 3rd Buffalo Trace by then.

It’s not that anyone eats that late… We’re here in Florida and in past years: live music, open deck bars, grills, restaurants, etc used to be open to a minimum 11PM. Some were open to midnight or later. It’s just very strange. You can tell these towns are dying and no one (especially a fricking liberal) seems to give a shite. Well… we’ll contribute to their demise and eat at our home if that’s the game they want to play. They all can go under for all I give a shite… just sad to see. We’re literally trying to spend money and they don’t seem to want it. Must be nice.

The restaurants are desperately trying to hire people. Most are offering good $$ too. I think a lot are used to the free money plus side work under the table. Some just are cool not working too. What you are seeing now is also an adjustment by the managers to try and not run the staff that actually will work into the ground. Strange times

Im sitting at a bar now and there's a deaf bartender. Because they can't find someone who can hear who wants to work the daytime alkie shift.

I agree with the issue of low wage earners getting free cash and not wanting to work, but I think there is something else going on too. I was at one of my favorite higher end restaurants in Atlanta last week and it was short staffed, and the waiters there make big time $$$.

Scamdemic shook up the patterns and taught a lot of businesses how to trim the fat to survive

Its like how if you stay in a hotel now for multiple nights, you won’t have maid service unless you ask for it. Which makes perfect sense and it’s weird now that anybody ever needed clean sheets and towels daily

Most likely if a restaurant closes at 8, it’s because they finally figured out it’s not profitable to keep a kitchen open after 8 with all that goes into that. Otherwise they would
