Depends on what I'm in the mood for, but I'm glad The Grit is still going, and I'm not even a vegetarian. Their burrito is really, really good.

Have not been to either... Clearly, I was a broke mofo when living in Athens. Will have to give them a stop on my next trip in.

Love it. Try and make it as my last stop on the way out when leaving on Sunday mornings (on non-game weekends).
I always enjoyed Little Italy and Last Resort, so they're still high on the list. There was also a pizza place out at the end of Milledge (past Botanical Gardens) that I remember... they maybe had a calzone similar to Little Italy? Is that place still open?
ETA: Just found it... Peppino's... on their website, they indicate "their other location" is Little Italy in downtown Athens... so that would explain why the food is the same in my memory. Hell, in my head, I thought I recalled it *was* a Little Italy location back in 2003 or so... maybe not though. Long frickin' time. I have very little room to complain, but frick it... I'm gonna do it anyways... Getting old sucks... (but it beats the alternative).

That's really kinda funny. I had no idea the two were connected. If you want to feel old, what would you think if I told you that Peppino's used to be downtown, somewhere right around where Porterhouse Grill is now? I used to go there as a teenager and play video games and shoot pool. On occasion, I'd spend some money on pizza.

If you want can to feel old, what would you say if I told you I was a student when they opened Peppinos downtown?
I pity those if you that didn't get to play pool at Sky's or darts at Gylands - or get into Zoo Night at TKs and get a $3 36oz Long Island iced tea.
Those were good times...what I remember of them.

Little Italy's lunch special is the absolute best. Could fluctuate between that and Taco Stand for cheap but filling.
There's a reason both have persisted for as long as they have.

absolutely. Great, thin crust artisan style pizza, and the outside area has a giant sand pit with toys the kids will enjoy.

No TVs if you're hoping to watch a game while there but it's probably the best family friendly place downtown to just kick back for a bit. Food is great and the atmosphere is nice.

Kirby takes his wife and kids there too. I seent it. It is the Athens hipster version of Chucky Cheese. All the cool parents are there with their little shits.

Milledge Taco Stand would sell you PBR to go on Sundays, back when you couldn't buy beer on Sundays.

Easily... Try to hit it when I'm in town every time. Took some co-workers the on a work trip even... Budget would have allowed anything we wanted, but really had a hankering. Decided to load up on beers that night instead of spending on the food.

Does Little Italy take American Express? That's a game changer.
