I just went to the grocery store (10 AM on Friday morning) to do regular-people-grocery-shopping. I did not realize the panic had set in yet. Cleaning supplies are out. I got the last 12 pack of TP. Canned goods are thinning out. Cars are circling the parking lot looking for open spaces. Hey, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables though. What's it like in GA and other places?

Are normal people freaking out? I feel like this is getting blown way out of proportion.

Finley,

Nashville just got its first confirmed case yesterday, so that's why your stores are getting slammed today. Try to find a Kroger, they have put limits on things so people can't hoard.

I've got a shotgun, a rifle and a two wheel drive and a suburban boy can survive.

The neighborhood pond is chock full of crappie and catfish. Nesting geese too. Lots of squirrels around but the rabbit population is down due to the recent residency of a red fox. There's deer around too but I can't count on them, the Klopeks will likely get them first.

Anyone who had to use the hand scanner system to get into the dining halls is immune to Corona Virus.

It still disgusts me to think about that system.

I was at Kroger! They shut down all the schools today and Monday. I guess that means it will all blow over by Tuesday.

I was just coming here to post that, just read it. Of course people are going to panic when you close a whole county worth of schools.

"Don't panic, we're just gonna shut down the schools, everybody act normal ".

My daughter and her friends cancelled their trip to LA for spring break. I hope I can get the plane ticket refunded. My company is also limiting travel and a couple of conference I was to attend have been cancelled. It is definitely having an effect. I hope it fizzles out soon.

This virus is already everywhere.

How are all these old folks homes getting it? None of those people just came back from Italy or Iran. Those people are basically already in quarantine.

This shite is in the air and everyone is going to get it , or already has it.

Problem is they won't test you unless you just came back from international travel and show symptoms, or your symptoms are bad enough to require hospital.

I am certain my family has already caught it and recovered.

What's the only flu-like virus in the world that has a mild fever, dry cough, but ZERO nasal congestion or snottiness?

Covid19.

My wife and son had it last week. I probably had it too but am asymptomatic.

You are all going to get it. Or already had it.

Last I saw they were using an eye scanning system. You'd walk up to the same area and lean your face towards a scanner and it would work it's magic after a solid 4-5 attempts of rotating your face.

Because apparently just putting a student ID swiper on the turnstile is too time consuming and complicated for the students.

Presumably they don't do this because people would just borrow IDs?

Meanwhile in the Dining Hall bookkeeping office... "God Damn. DirtyDawg ate at Snelling 473 times... in 1 week. Seems legit."

One of our large consulting engagements for one of the biggest banks in the US out of Chicago just went DEFCON 1. Full company work from home. Only critical personnel and those who don’t have technology must go in (to their corporate locations, not branches)

There's definitely a pass back or borrowing scheme always going on amongst the students.

I remember a dude in my fraternity went around and compared his hand size to the hand size of the pledges and he would use the IDs of the kids with similar hand sizes so he could trick the hand scanners and get a free meal

If more people get sick and they institute travel restrictions from Asia and Europe I may go to the masters every day this year. Prices are already dropping if they don’t let Asians over the ticket market will flood. Glorious.

People are fricking nuts, imma in my mid 60's, was in Vietnam and S. Korea 2.5 weeks ago. Headed to the UK and Wales to visit relatives and friends in early April.

More worried about a trip in the camper to Chestnut Bay Resort on Lake Weiss in bammer the 2nd week of May...

If you're semi-healthy, have a flu shot and wash your nasty hands and arse occasionally and not pick yo nose you might get a mild chest/head cold etc.

I grew up eating mud and catfish outta the 'hooch so I think I'll be ok...

CDC has already came out and said “Ooops we may have overreacted.” After a case study is less harmful than the actual flu.
