When opening up a cold case or brainstorming in general, it’s probably best to open up with the basics:

What was the weather doing?

-are there places online that document weather history?
-what were the specifics of that day and minute specifically
-and that week, month, or months generally
-also, are lake water levels documented?

yeah and the water moves fast. Was hunting on Sinclair below the Oconee dam one morning. We looked down and there was no water under my boat. Luckily I have a mud motor and a slick coating on the bottom of my boat or I woulda been there a while.

Nuwabians can't swim so I'd be hard pressed to believe they'd be in the lake.

We're going to need an intern.

I thought the Nuwaubians weren't an issue after Malachi York was sent up river?
I remember they rented the Classic Center on New Year's Eve for the Millennium. York told them that a space ship was going to come and take the back to where ever they came from. An ACC detective told me police had purchased over 500 body bags as a precaution.

I remember when we moved to Milledgeville from Conyers and drove past that place. We had no idea what the hell it was until we asked around. We use to ride by and through eggs at the guards when we were in high school until it was shut down.

Exact murder date is unknown, body found on the 6th.

Below are links to the weather at KATL (not lake oconee, but hopefully close enough).

Sunday May 4

High of 85, no precip, winds 8mph out of WNW

Saturday May 3

High of 76, no precip, winds 9MPH out of the NW with gusts to 25.

Sun rising at 6:47, setting at 8:22pm

I can find nothing noteworthy on the moon phases. Waxing crescent.

I always thought it was family. Pretty elaborate plan to take a boat to a murder scene and away after it was over, preplan to sink the bodies/ Head. Not everyone can do that on a strange lake in the dark. All the gore was too extravagant, too over the top for what was needed. Think it was done to make it look like something more than a kid who couldn’t wait in their inheritance. Would be interested to know who NEEDED the money. If I’m hitting them I catch them on the road or a parking lot. Heck of a lot easier and dead is dead. Someone wanted it to look as gruesome as it was FOR A REASON.

The FBI checked out all the heirs. They're all clean. Do you still think it is likely one of them hired the hit, but found a way to not get caught by the FBI who have access to computer and phone records, all of your banking transactions, and gave all heirs double-polygraphs?

The disposal of the wife seems to me to be a reason to think the killers did not want anything to be found. Again, you are assuming the killers left the decapitated man in the garage on purpose. If they wanted it really gruesome on purpose, leave both of them there, mutilated. Make it even more gruesome.

Well I don't see them checking their mail the following Wednesday and thinking dang, we left a headless body in the garage. As to your second point, 1 headless body is enough to qualify as gruesome. Anything after that is wasted effort.

You should read back through this thread more slowly and carefully. Maybe pick a time when you aren't so rushed.

Late April and early May, the striper all run up river to spawn, so it’s unlikely there’d be many striper fishermen on that section, but there’d definitely be bass fishermen in the day, pounding the banks and shore structure (dock), and there would probably be some crappie fishermen at night but maybe a little too early for that, given night temps.

Another question:

Are these the kind of people who go lights out on the water to avoid detection? In which case, if LE were to spot them, they’d definitely be checked. Or would they go legit with all nav lights, spot lights and stern light?

Can anyone confirm if the victims had their own boat that the killer could have used? They had a really nice dock that is kind of a waste to not have a boat there. There’s no boat at the dock in the one pic I’ve seen of the dock that still had crime tape up.

I believe their boat was in dry storage at Great Waters Marina

Late April/ early May I doubt DNR is sitting out all night like they do in the summer time. Even if they were, that’s a big arse lake. I’d say they idled it out in the dark.

That’s a little late in the season to have your boat still in dry dock, but not suspiciously late.

Also seems like you could put your own lift in for the cost of a couple years of dry dock.

I wonder if they didn’t really fully participate in the lake lifestyle they bought into.

Do you know what type of boat it was?

That’s a good point griffin.

They wouldn’t necessarily have to drive the boat five miles, more like a couple hundred yards just to get to channel.

Seems like they’d want a four stroke to keep quiet, probably a yamaha for reliability. Don’t want boat troubles in the middle of an operation like this.

Question for locals, do the rentals there usually use yamaha or merc? Or zukis?
