It is crazy how many desirable positions are already available. USC, South Carolina, and VT. We likely will be able to add Texas to that by the end of the year. A lot of competition if the decision makers decided to make a change. A lot of candidates may taken soon but at least UGA is clearly a more desirable job than South Carolina and VT. They better be willing to open the pocket book.

We'd be either a close 2nd or tied with SC. That said, even with their current dumpster fire I can't see Texas pulling the trigger on Charlie so soon.

Agree... To suggest SC is a job on the same level as UGA is crazy. I'm not so sure USCw is much better other than their history. UGA has far better facilities and better fan support.

I think he may pull the trigger on them. He is still being touted as a great coach (Texas does seem to be playing better of late) and he never was a good fit at Texas....I don't know who would be. They are as bad as us about unfounded expectations but they are Texans about it....and for anyone who has dealt with Texans you know what that means. Your could substitute the words a-hole or prick and it would come close but would not quite reach what a happy Texan acts like...when he is pouting and his feelings are hurt he is like a drunk 5 year old who is 6'1" and weighs 220...and there is a BIG state slap full of 'em....

I think any HC in america would see us as a better destination than the trojans unless they were just a west coast guy. That program has been a disaster for a while now, hadens ready to step down, yet they still have that Texas type arrogance with win now expectations through the roof

Can you imagine what a charismatic high energy guy with a fun high scoring offense could come in and do at UGA? a guy like hugh freeze or fuentes. with our available talent? jesus. Youd look back on some of richts better recruiting classes and be like pffft. especially once we get this swagtastic arse IPF up. UGA is a spot that the right guy could come in and have his name thrown around with big dogs in no time. And thats no Homer delusion. shite just winning a playoff game would have the state going INSANE

This. USCw is a better gig. Just about every coach would say that. His list (VADawg) is pretty accurate.

I would have to put USCw and UGA as 1a and 1b, respectively. Obviously, each school would want a coach with ties to their region. USCw has more history, tradition, etc., but UGA offers a better program at its current state. You inherit one of the best RBs in the nation more than likely along with the #1 QB recruit in the nation. You would inherit a young defense and hopefully keep Pruitt. You would also have a very beatable UNC team your first game on national TV. That schedule also includes 1 tough true road game in Ole Miss, all your rivals at home except the WLOCP, and an easier OOC schedule.

At USCw, you open in Texas against Alabama. The talent level just isn't what it used to be. And you're in a more of a "win-now" situation. You've witnessed what early success and an SEC Championship can get you at UGA. That's multiple chances to fail and still keep your job for 15 years. Just think how long you can stay if you win a MNC at UGA.

1(a): SoCal
1(b): UGA

3(a): SoCar
3(b): VaTech
3(c): UK (Stopps will be hired and this job will be available)
3(d): Louisville (same as UK)
7: Texas (simply bc it appears to be a nightmare dealing with the powers pulling the strings)
8: MiamiU
9: Maryland

How bad do you have to be to destroy one of the "old guard" conferences and find a way to lose with all of the advantages UT has? It really is amazing.

If Richt does leave after the season, wait until the coaching short lists come out. The difference in names on it will be staggering. USCw can talk to NFL guys and not get laughed out of the room. Unless Texas comes open, they'll be the only open college job that can say that. They have a legitimate shot to land Chip Kelly if he's interested in leaving Philadelphia.

The sanctions are finally starting to be behind them, and Kiffin/Sark recruited really well. The cupboard isn't bare out there, and a coach isn't beating his head against a brutal SEC schedule every week.

Southern California produces a shitload of HS football talent, too. LA and San Diego combined are probably on par with Miami and Atlanta.

USCw is a premier college football job. Georgia is probably a tier below.

At the risk of sounding Grudenesque, I bet Chip would come here in a heartbeat if he parted ways with Philly. before he'd go back to the Pac even. I really believe that. He would murder shite in the SEC east

Chip hates recruiting. Doubt he will ever come back to the college game.
