Does all that make sense?

It makes perfect sense, and I agree. It is more than one or two reasons, but all of the reasons mentioned that contributed to the lackluster play.

If you watch the UF game, you will see us pulling Centers and Tackles and UF lineman attacking the gap they pulled from with malice. You will also see Lineman going to the next level trying to block a guy 1.5 gaps over and they can't get there.

It was a perfect combination of D-lineman teeing off and a scheme that was not gonna work for a team that didn't demand respect Of the pass.

We didn't pull tackles did we? I thought they were blocking down while the guards pulled.

One thing you havent discussed is the OL's awesome timing with huge penalties. It happened numerous times. Off the top of my head, one time with Kub on a long eason run vs Vandy. Cost us fg range in a one pt game.

Another time with Pyke early on the 2 vs UF. This was followed by Kub and Blaze totally whiffing on blocks that didnt involve a lick of pulling, and then followed by Kub and Catalina getting beat ion pass pro on 3rd and goal. The next drive involved Sims getting beat badly, once again no pulling.

The more I watch this game, the more it looks like Peter is exaggerating his point about pulling. So far, that looks to be the least of the issues.

Quite honestly I have no memory of this game ever being played. My mind has disposed of it. My last memory of a fl game was bauta tossing it to fl and fl dropping it. Everything since then has been rejected by my psyche.

The Auburn game was nice but the offense didn't score a touchdown

Watching the replay tonight and the offense moved the ball pretty damned good especially in the 2nd half.Godwin threw that stupid pic in the end zone and
The refs missed a blatent PI on Ridley at our 5 yard
line.

Take away our loss yardage and that bad snap and we almost accumulated 400 yards.

While our 1st half pass protection was not very good the
line played much better in the 2nd half and don't think
allowed a sack.

AU had the best DL we played all year and to say "they handed the OL it's arse" is absurd,

A lot bigger and stronger at least, so we may be less inclined to pull guys.

We didn't pull as much as Peter has led us to believe If the uf game is any indication. Hope the freshmen are ready to play early and often.

It's will be more talented and athletic.Let's hope
they gel a little faster than last year's and as
Rig pointed out,the more Eason and the downfield passing game improved it took alot of pressure off the line

Our kids are about 6'6" 340 so they aren't your standard kids.

I'm more worried about the mental aspect for Wilson and Thomas, assuming those are the two most in play to start.

Not really, Kirby said we'll start the fall with the same lineup we ended the spring with (Wynn/Allen/Gaillard/Kindley/Sims). I would be absolutely floored if that's how we start the first game though. Allen got some pretty good reviews in the spring but I would feel very uncomfortable with Sims starting at tackle this year. I know Wilson is a Tfr and will take his lumps but he's one of the best OL we've signed in decades and is physically more gifted than anyone else in those other 5 so why not put him out there in the position he is almost assuredly going to be manning the next 3 years?

I would assume that after a few games once things shake out we'll see Wynn/Netori/Gaillard/Kindley/Wilson. I'm a bit concerned about Wynn's size playing LT but he is the most experienced there so I guess that can't hurt. The JUCO and Andrew Thomas should help so at the very least we have some options/depth at tackle which we haven't seemed to have had in a while. And we're loaded at guard with Kindley/Allen/Netori/Shaffer/Cleveland/(and Wynn if one of the other LTs flourish) so we should have plenty of options there.

Bottom line I don't see any way the OL isn't much better this year than last, where we were playing guys out of position, guys with little to no talent, and the whole line learning a new scheme with a new staff.

This. And yet the coaching staff will be to blame.

His height? Now he weighs over 300 after being in the 280's the past 2 years.

Yes. 6'2" left tackles don't necessarily inspire the most confidence.
