What does that look like in your world?

So gunner throwing for 130 then 150 is gonna be enough when other teams play us that way?
If the defense is playing lights out and the other team isn't allowing deep throws but allowing short throws within 10-15 yards of the LOS, absolutely it could be enough.
Each game is different

While I'm not wild about the lack of explosiveness, I like the efficiency.
IIRC, Kirby talked about our offensive identity earlier in the year and said that while it may not light you up, it's like a boa wrapped around its prey, and every first down is a tightening of the grip.
Manball.
Might not get more than 6 YPP against teams, but we have still have enough weapons to move the ball against elite defenses.

When we ran between the tackles for like 6 yards and then our line jumped on the pile and pushed it to a 13 yard gain, I knew we were gonna win. That was an explosive play.

Do y’all want us to throw the ball where they defense is playing or where they are not playing?
A true gentleman always attacks right into the heart of a foe's prepared defense. Since the foeman has gone through all the bother of preparing said defense, it would be dishonorable in the extreme to make that a wasted effort by attacking somewhere else.

That’s just what they’ll be expecting us to do.

We'll need more than 298 yards of total offense at some point in this title run, man.
Situational awareness is important. Kirby knows that better than any. Oklahoma lost to Alabama because they’re dumb arse coordinator kept trying to throw the ball when they had a big lead. Play the game in the game.

That makes me want to run through drywall when I see any team doing that - especially us

If Ty Simpson was on fire and Bama scored a special teams touchdown or something goofy happened, could've we opened up the offense and thrown down field to receivers is the question, I guess.
We wouldn’t have to tak deep shots if they’re playing two deep. We methodically drove it down the field before. Add 30 yards and we could still do the same thing

We scored 28 points on four red zone possessions. Credit to Bobo, but you can't count on that every game.
This season Georgia is tied for 13th in the country in Red Zone trips. Take out inconsequential schools like Tulane, Texas State, UNLV, James Madison and North Texas (Yes, I know two made the playoffs, but...really?) and Georgia would have finished tied for 8th in the country with 53 trips into the red zone.
Georgia scored TDs on 42 of those trips. Georgia kicked FGs on 6 of those trips. So in 53 trips into the red zone Georgia scored at LEAST a FG on 48 of those trips, scoring 42 TDs. (26 Rushing, 16 Passing)
Rushing wise, we finished 10th in rushing TDs once in the red zone, and taking out inconsequential teams finished 3rd in the country behind only Washington and Penn State.
Passing, we finished 15th in the country, and taking out inconsequential teams would have finished 9th in passing TD.
Over the 13 games we have played so far, we average barely over 4 trips into the red zone, and we score (TD, FG) on over 90% of those trips)
I do think it is fair to assume we will get fewer attempts against better competition, though. I was just curious about the stats when i saw this conversation and was a little surprised at how efficient we are in the red zone and wanted to share.

More to this point....no. We probably would not have been able to throw down field.
Here is why.
A defense has a lot of options. They can play to stop the run, or the pass. Within those two parameters, they have other options. Alabama chose to not let us throw downfield deep. In order to do that, they put two safeties deep. That makes it exceedingly difficult to throw deep for anybody. That said, it also opens up the run game a bit as there are fewer players in the box. It should open the run game more, particularly up the middle. That's why we say Bobo calling more run plays up the middle and off tackle. If we have success running the ball, the defense can bring a safety up for more run support, then that opens up the opportunity to throw deep with only one safety deep.
I know this is rudimentary for many on here, and I apologize for that. It is not meant to talk down to anyone, but i know we have some posters who may not fully understand just how much of a "chess game" that is going on on the field.
I have seen you post a lot VHS, and I am sure you understand what I am saying, so this was not necessarily pointed at you.

Georgia is 1st in the SEC in TD% in the red zone.
Most teams are forced to play man coverage in the red zone. We destroy man coverage. That and a mobile QB to improve the numbers in the run game are why we are so efficient.

My cousin was a DC for a large, competitive HS in N GA and just through my casual conversations with him I figured out that the situational strategy and decisions that go into modern football from the plays themselves up to overall coaching are at a level beyond what the casual fan notices. And that’s HS.
I have no doubt that if we needed to take the risk of pushing the ball downfield every play we could’ve called those plays. But if we can grind it out and force the game into a place where Bama doesn’t have enough time to get the possessions they need why wouldn’t we do that?

We just need to score more points than we allow in every game.
