It's time to start working on the 2023 season. To do that we need the OC issue settled. The HC and AD need to tell Monken (politely) to get his status with the NFL settled immediately. The best college OCs are locked up for the season. If Monken leaves two weeks from now who do we get as his replacement OC? Someone fired from the NFL?

Wrong schemes for our offense for 2023. He's five years ago in his thinking. Has he learned enough from Monken to change by Spring game?

I have to believe that Bobo has now learned Monks system. He knows he was catching hell about the 80/90s system he ran and now knows the modern NFL O and terminology having worked here under Monken.

Interesting.
What are your thoughts on Monkens 21 and 22 personnels?
You may have noticed them in the 80s and 90s as well.

Loved it, only see I formation in a handfull of sets...

The tranformation for Bobo is using short passes as the run game, zero personell for the QB etc... More andy reid type stuff

I get that we offered him $3 mil to stay...at this point, I'm almost ok with him leaving. That is ridiculous.

Bobo tried it. The fact is that Murray wasn't good at screens (particularly to the backs). He couldn't get the ball up and down that quickly.
If Murray could hit the screen game, there is a good chance that we have a natty as it would have neutralized a lot of pass rush.

I may have oversimplified it. The OL may not have been good at screens either. But my memory recalls a bunch of incompletions (which deters the playcall from the OC).

If all it takes to make it to the college football playoffs and to play for another natty is $3M to the OC, we are cutting that check in a heartbeat.

Kirby is CEO. But Monk has the keys to the offensive Ferrari. The offense is his autonomy and the past 2 national championships with our QB/WR battery is because of Todd.

Wouldnt argue with that. Would only point out that its also the ocs job to get the players in that can run the system.

My point is that for Bobos on marketability, learning Todd Monkens offense could make him a ton of money in the future.

Monken can get credit for Brock Bowers and AD Mitchell.
But all of our QBs and other WRs with any reps were before his time.
The insanity that is Todd Monken is running our offense with an overlooked QB and no true X receiver.

No doubt.

I agree on the Bobo take. He ran an out-dated pro style system that he learned from Richt. I wonder sometimes how much of his success was having Richt around to help w/ play calling and schemes; and of course he had Gurley and Murray for few of those high output seasons. Just curious if Bob is actually the de facto OC in waiting like a lot of people think he is. He may be ok just being a QB coach analyst after his health issues.

Right, but that is irrelvant as he could make it work with what he had.... So goven the portal, he didnt have to run many off or bring many in with the exception of wrs this years.

Monken's scheme will be run going forward regardless of the OC. It will be a prerequisite to be named to the position, similar to what Bama does currently incorporating Lane Kiffen's scheme.

A new OC will be allowed to add to it, but not dismantle it.

Monkens scheme works properly because Monken calls the right play at the right time. Those calls are in HIS head. Does Bobo have that? I think he might. He used to call some excellent plays back in the day. The key, of course, is Monken has had the OLs that gave the plays time to develop. Bobo sometimes had to scheme around some mediocre OLs.

That may be the goal but I don’t see how you run Monken’s scheme without Monken. The dude is next level. Remembers when LSU convinced themselves they wouldn’t miss a beat when Brady left. They were wrong

If we go from monken to Bobo we will regress

The vast majority of college OCs would move to Athens tomorrow for the job if it opened up.
