would have thought. $1.5 to $3 million deal for Hunter just might be what it takes for top recruits. Paying players is the new deal, Texas players getting $ 50 thousand a year is just the beginning. College football is on the fast track to minor league NFL. Like it or not playing for the love of the school will be replaced by love of the dollar, and its happening fast.

Not liking this. They should have somehow barred the NILs from being tied to recruiting / signing day.

You must be on campus one year before any NIL. Done.

Who could’ve ever foreseen this getting out of control?

Left coast liberal federal judges did this. NCAA is a great scapegoat but lets not forget how this all really started. NCAA just doing what they had to do to not get sued.

Everything woke turns to shite.

A kid going to a DII school instead of FSU does not equal going to shite

I'm talking about the whole system, dummy. It's not about 1 deal, although that deal does shine a spotlight on it.

It is going to kill what I liked about college ball. I watch zero pro ball and I fear that is going to be my future with my beloved UGA Saturdays.

Well, getting my Sunday's free has been a blessing. Maybe, the same with Saturday's in the fall.

Seriously branchdawg, let's take the bullshittery out of this discussion... you don't think a kid getting a 1.5 million dollar deal to sign with a certain school out of high school is a big deal? And that it couldn't possibly destroy the integrity of a sport you apparently love (or you wouldn't be here)?

It has nothing to do with JSU, if it had been Texas or Penn St I don't care. Paying millions to a 17 year old to pick your school over another school, you don't think that is a bad thing?

I have no problem with NIL, I do however have a problem with kids getting NILS before they have ever even enrolled at that college, it boggles my mind..

I wonder how many of these kids will end up getting slammed by the IRS for tax evasion or involved in custody battles and paternity suits.

Out of control? It's just one player.

They have.

He grew up with one single solitary dream. Since as long as he could remember

To play quarterback for the University of Georgia

His parents knew iit wouldn’t be easy, so they instilled in him a tireless work ethic and ice cold patience to match his inherent drive and determination

They used the lot next to Dad’s drug store to drill, train, and practice from dark to dark

When it came time for high school, they sold their home and moved to a different school zone so that he could play in the big leagues

And play he did

The scholarship offers came in from Harvard and Yale and every single ivy league school, and plenty from the fcs, but none from momma

Nome from the school in Athens, GA that he loved with all his heart

So, he had to try get there as a walk-on then

He is Stetson Bennett the IV

Last of the Mohicans

So travis hunter went to JSU becuase he loves the town and not because of the 7 figures being promised to him if he went there. Right.

I thought everyone saw this coming. There's no regulations so no reason T Boone Pickens couldn't pay $10 million per kid to go to OK State. Any regulations would have loop holes anyways. Cade Mays was asked about returning for another year he said he was 50/50 on his decision but an "NIL deal paying 3rd or 4th rd money" would help his decision.

I'm surprised there's not more cherry picking of star players at schools like AP State and Ga Southern. Must be players in the portal making decisions based on NIL.

anyone who didn't see it coming is a complete and total moron. Anyone thinking this would just be for the local hometown kid to get a percentage of his jersey sales from the student center is just laughably naive. Or dumb.
