UGA has too many day games. Plain and simple. You want more students? Have games later in the day. No students want to go to a noon game when they went to bed at 5AM from a night of partying.

Good suggestion. I'll vote for night games on the next ballot.

you guys remember Nuway?..he threw barrels of money at the school and the last few years of his attending games, the tailgating police threatened to arrest him and general hassled him until I'm pretty sure he said "frick it" and stopped bothering. To me the assault on traditional tailgating (banning RVs, etc) by pres Adams has taken it's toll on gameday in it's entirety. The last few seasons I went I seemed to spend more time dodging cops due to me with an open container and being hassled by student reps who's job it seemed was to hassle anybody and everybody in the paylots. To those who want beer sold in Sanford, really?..they can't even sell you a decent fountain coke there...you really want to drink hot, stale draft beer during a ballgame?..
going back to paper tix for the students, maybe reducing the allotment and leave the students alone and I believe things would take care of themselves. as far as the rest of us..unless Athens goes back to the times where we could walk around with a beer anywhere and everywhere we chose, not sure they can hope for much better. and to address the trash thing?...give it a break..they have that campus totally cleaned up by noon sunday.

The stadium experience is a shite show, that's why.
If I'm going to sit through a 4 hour game where 3 hours of that time is me staring at the sky, staring at the sand, then I damn sure better be able to go get a coke, an iced lemonade, a hot dog, and take a piss, and hit the ATM, and not have it take an hour. When I'm trying to get into the stadium, it shouldn't take 30 minutes. Getting into the LSU game at the Tate gate was fricking ridiculous. You ever go into a Walmart and the lines are all 10 deep and only 3 registers open, and you say "why the frick don't you open the other 29 registers?" That's what happened at the LSU game at that gate. There are what, 10 turnstyles there, and 3 were open, and they were searching everyone. We thought we'd go in 30 minutes early so we could get comfy and watch some pregame festivities, but we almost missed the damn kickoff.
Whoever runs the stadium should just be fired.
I've been to Away games at other stadiums and off the top of my head, Willy Brice was ran professionally. There was a line to get in but the line moved. Never more than 5 minutes in line at a concession. Same experience in Jacksonville, except at half-time. The way half-time is in Jacksonville is how Sanford is for the whole game. Complete incompetence.
People running around with their heads cut off with no idea what is going on.
Except security.... they are throwing people out left and right for trying to sneak a smoke in a corner somewhere. frick those people. A guy hiding in a corner somewhere chiefing down a camel light isn't bothering anyone. I watched these fricks utilize a sophisticated signalling scheme to track and bust people for smoking. I have never been busted there but that's because I'm smart and I know damn well better than to reveal my secret online.
At home, or even at a bar, I get cold drinks, I can watch other games during the 3 hours of the 4 hour game that the dawgs aren't playing, I can take a piss, and I can smoke them if Ive got them.
Increased wifi won't do shite except give people something to do during the 3 hours of the game that nothing is happening. The corporate fricks are turning football into baseball.

add to that the politically correct police and even the real police and I totally agree...I was always worried about corporate sponsorship in Sanford, but I never saw coming what gameday has become. I still enjoy, however, tailgating much of teh day and taking in some of the game at the Georgia Theater when possible..would rather not bother with going inside Sanford.

I'm not worried about the corporate shite in the stadium, I mean football in general. All the commercial breaks and TV timeouts are ridiculous.
That part isn't really UGAs fault, they are just part of a machine.
But when you know that 3 hours of a 4 hour game is nothing, and you can't conveniently use the concessions, and you don't have any wifi to entertain yourself, whatever you do amounts to the same, absolutely nothing.

Give the freaking students tickets that can be given away or sold. Problem effing solved. Make sure every Freaking ticket you print ends up with an arse in a seat. Yun Lui gets tix cause he's been at UGA for 7 yrs. he might go to 1 game. Then it's back to the science library. Give that dam ticket to Bubba from Hahira and everyone's a winner.

1. Do not pay attention to dumb blogs seeking hits on an issue that has been talked about over and over(really the last bastion of moron booboo supporters as that one is).
2. As to Vandy, their President banned frats from having parties on their lawns during games because the students were not going to the games. Funny how attendance improved as Franklin's record improved.
3. When I attended GA, every student was guaranteed a ticket and we all went the games as freshman. The idiots at GA have shown the freshman there is no need to go to the game and you can have a life when you do not by not giving them tickets. What successful university does this? So, when they are upper classmen they do not go as they already have a partying routine down. So, give the entire student body tickets but it will take a few years to change their behavior.
4. Freaking win. No more excuses that the defense or the offense or special teams did not show up. Do you think the aggies tell their freshmen not to come to games.
5. Let students sell tickets so if they do not go someone will be there. .

This. I remember before North Campus got axed and how crazy things were in comparison to how they are now. The whole gameday atmosphere was a lot more intense. I think now people are more inclined to stay home or downtown and not ever make it to campus.
I don't think selling beer in Sanford would really change much. Hell it may make things worse. As uptight as stadium security is in general they'd be a huge pain in the arse hassling everyone over a fake ID. People would still just sneak stuff in to get around that.
I also don't buy the paper ticket deal either, at least not the usual argument against it. I went to '08 Auburn game that was in Auburn. They had tickets on student IDs and I walked in their student section decked out in Georgia gear with some girl's Auburn student ID and not one of their stadium staff batted an eye at me. As long as that thing scanned a ticket they didn't care who the hell's ID it was. I thought it'd be awesome when we went to tickets on IDs before I realized they'd be a huge pain in the arse about it being your ID you used to get in the game with. If they'd chill on that crap I think the whole ID thing wouldn't matter.
What gets me about the whole allotment deal to students to is how this past season they didn't credit Double Dawgs with hours from undergrad. What a bunch of bullshite. Had they done that when I was in grad school I would've gone postal. Supposedly that was done to give more opportunity for undergrads to enjoy going to games, glad that worked out.

Any of you lucky enough to walk down Sanford dr when it was bumper to bumper RVs, buses with decks built on top, Music, pure crazy; that was how you enter a game. Now the walk down Sanford is eerily quite, even for big games. Guess I missed all the danger, deaths and injuries for the 100 yrs of tailgating pre-Adams. But I'm sure we're much safer for it.

Dawgs wanna sacrifice the gameday experience for an AAU invite, you fckers have just not figured it out yet... the same reason they have enuff money to build a Georgia Dome yet have no indoor practice field

They need to get the frick over it. Pardon my language. If you need someone to hold your hand and give you thunder sticks so maybe you might fill 50% of your allotted sections, the problem is YOU. UGA does plenty to cater to the students, shakers and special music, along with the band RIGHT BESIDE YOU. They play that music Imperial March on 3rd down and it is plenty for my 20 year old self to yell.
I would kill to be at UGA, walking past that stadium everyday, and having the privilege to attend the games and call my self a UGA student. I can do nothing but shake my head when I look up in that northeast corner 300 level and see only a 1/4th of it filled. News like this only further proves that, overall, UGA students are pathetic.
ETA: Improvements can be made, but will it make the big difference we need? I personally have never been to an away game, so I can't compare them.

Well, I have avoided this thread because I have a novel to write about it but to put it simply I think it's just the student base. The kids at UGA before I got there, during, and after didn't all grow up fans like a lot of us did. Many of them are at UGA because of HOPE and a lot of other came for the part. UGA is great at partying but to people like us the football program is a part of the experience. Many people see the game as a social event, a reason to drink when in REALITY drinking is a PRIVILEGE we have in enhancing our football experience.
I feel like a lot of the kids who grew up loving Georgia didn't get in and have gone elsewhere. Kids who grow up loving AU, LSU, UA and etc don't have the same rigors to go through that Georgia fans do. I have lost count of students I knew who became Georgia fans AT Georgia. That's fine but the level of dedication simply isn't there. GDIs, hipsters, frat stars, all of them were just at Georgia games because it was the thing to do. shite, I had a kid in the STUDENT SECTION once ask me if I was gonna sit down the entire game. THE frickING STUDENT SECTION.
There was a UGA meme facebook group way back where one said "Sanford Stadium: Where the points don't matter and the party is always on" or something stupid like that and I know it shouldn't have but it enraged me. I grew up living and breathing Georgia football and I still do. To see kids just let these opportunities slip away so they could drink more from the keg just killed me inside. Hell, a lot of my friends who liked Georgia almost as long as me made decisions like that for shitty games.
It's a fricking shame but I was raised old school and I never missed a home game and only missed probably 5 away games while at Georgia. I just wish kids loved Georgia the way we all do. I don't think the music, wifi, or even beer will fix it because the kids will still say they'd rather drink cheaper beer, watch the game dt, or use their phone where it works. I say frick it, keep shrinking the student section, impose stiffer sanctions on frickers who don't sell the tickets, and most importantly fix the student section so it's one large section and not 3 different sections. THAT was always my biggest pet peeve with how UGA handles it. My freshman year up north the student section was all one section and the unity/camaraderie KILLED UGA
