Huge news actually. Not only from a depth perspective but the future on the Oline beyond this season. Glad he stuck it out.

I am too since he's got unlimited potential, but as of 4/18 it's hard to see where he's going to fit in exactly. Esepcially if lack of immediate PT was one of his driving factors in being unhappy originally.

He's not starting at either tackle spot this year. Willock and Truss currently are ahead of him at guard, and while neither is 100% locked in you still have incumbent starter ratledge coming back in addition to earnest greene who has looked awesome (albeit at tackle). Assuming no lengthy injuries, it'll be Mims' junior year before he really gets to play a lot.

Now with that said, he's probably be an almost lock to start at tackle in 2023 and put some good film together to get drafted high, but again if impateience is his concern I don't see where that gets resolved in 2022.

If we learned anything, it’s impossible to have enough depth. Was surprised to see so many saying losing his experience and potential as no big deal.

Wonder if he was just shopping for some money??

Probably seeing the guard play on Saturday. If for some reason Ratledge doesn’t heal in time for the season, we might have a little issue. Even if he does, Mims should put his head down and try to take over the other.

Willock looked good at Guard. Nobody else really stood out to me though.

Anybody else notice anything specific, good or bad?

Tackles all look good and Earnest Green is impressive for a true freshman.

Willock looked the best of the 2 starting guards. Truss is what he is at this point but he’s at least large and knows both tackle and guard. I nearly got a hard on from not having to watch Erricson get mauled by Jalen Carter and co. Tackles looked good considering we basically didn’t try to run and the defense knew it. I saw somewhere someone said Fairchild looked really bad but he’s like 3rd string so that’s not alarming. Ernest Green is starting in 2023 somewhere.

That would not surprise me at all.

If he puts his mind to it, accepts Searles' coaching, he will get playing time this fall.

For some reason the loss of Matt Luke then Mims entering the portal, had me very unsettled about the retread OL coach. This is a huge weight off! Awesome news!
