So USCe just approved the use of funds to build an indoor practice facility...pretty sure we're the last School in the SEC without one. Technically we don't NEED one but we're falling behind in the arms race, big time.

We are but as long as we win enough to keep the donations flowing in, nothing will change.

True, but the inflection point could be a lot closer than the admin thinks. It's sort of like how people go bankrupt: very slowly, then all at once.

You know you suck when OM out-recruits you, USCE out plays you three years in a row, AND they have better facilities in the works.

Valid point.

Meh.

bullshite.
This has been debunked a hundred times. Our Star Power was diluted because we signed 32 kids, many 3 stars for depth.
Ole Miss signed 22 or 23 kids, whatever the number is, if you take UGA's top 22 or 23, whatever the number is, we blew them away in recruiting, by The Star system.
Basically, UGA signing 32 kids actually hurt them in the rankings.
In case I haven't explained it enough...
For Illustration Purposes Only-
Ole Miss signs 20 players that are all 4 stars.
Georgia signs 20 players that are 4 stars, and 13 other players who are 3 stars.
Who has the better recruiting class?
Obviously, Georgia. But by the average, Ole Miss.

Whoever is able to achieve the best on-field results. It is the *only* metric that matters.

I suppose it all depends on what a program's goal is. For fans, the goal is obviously to win games and titles. For the administrative side, pulling in bucks is the goal. To them, there's really no difference between a team that goes 14-0 every year and wins title after title, and a team that goes 0-12 every year, if both pull in the same revenue. It sucks, but there it is.

Isn't the area right outside Richts office an indoor facility?

Enough for the NCAA to consider it simulated game play during Crowell's recruitment.

I thought the same thing. Doesn't he have a window that opens up right over the field?

Fair enough.
And I don't really give 1/1000th of a shite about an indoor facility either - last time I checked football was played outside rain or shine - however, stuff like that matters when you're 18 and you're being recruited by a dozen other schools.

We play sideline to sideline.
Anywhoo, playing inside and out of the weather makes football player soft. We don't want that now do we?

When was the last time a recruit chose a school based on their indoor practice facility?
I understand that it's one part of hundreds of parts of the campus tour that help go into making up the kid's mind, but I really don't see how any kid is going to think UGA's facility is just too small, so he'll go to Arkansas or Tennessee instead.
I think that kind of money would have a better impact on recruiting by hiring more staff, Saban style.

frick that. It all boils down to this. What? They have an indoor training facility? Then we need a Goddamn better one. frick 'em.
Well, at least it does for me.

UF doesn't have an indoor practice facility. They seem to have done just fine recruiting without it. Results on the field and championships get recruits. UGA doesn't NEED an indoor facility to recruit well, not saying it wouldn't be a bonus.

True enough. Not coming up short would probably work wonders.

Who gives a frick... We're in the south and we play outdoors on grass. Why spend the money just to keep up with the pissing match that is wasting money. If UGA was located in Minot North Dakota, I could see justifying the need.
