I think it's less the changes that have been made and more the fact that we have to nag for years just to get changes that only meet and do not exceed the bar set by rival programs

this in a program that is consistenly top 5 every year in PROFITS...where does all that money go?

I merely used facilities as the most tangible example. We were years behind on a nutrition staff, years behind on upgrading S&C, years behind on getting rid of Martinez and searching for a new DC, years behind on taking Special Teams seriously (back to the days of Fabris directional kicking for the challenge and the past few years of fair catching out of fear). Some of that rests with the HC, but ultimately the administration either has to hire a HC that knows when/how to make those needed additions/changes or provide the HC with the necessary materials needed to make those things happen. It is no secret that our administration has been very slow to react or pull the trigger on a lot of those things over the years. Occasionally they will come through with a Pruitt-like hire but those occurrences tend to far more often be the exception than the rule.

Yea my point was that if anyone expects to just fire Richt and get a new coach and start getting the results we want, they'll be disappointed. I'm not defending Richt, just saying it's more than just him. I have my complaints about him as well

Exactly.

nt. But how many who are tired of it will "be heard" by giving up their Saturday traditions for a year or two? Not many because people talk a big game without following through. Some bitching the loudest would have a stroke if they were not in the stadium at a home game.

We stopped going during the Goff era. After a shitty showing against Arky in '93 I didn't step foot in Stanford again until '97. Stadium was less than 3/4 full that day. Goff was booed going in at the half. Someone was flying over the stadium in an airplane with a "Fire Ray Goof" banner. So it can be done....lets start a grassroots campaign.

4 or 5 yrs ago this was discussed heavily on the DR. everyone wanted to rent a plane or a billboard or some shite

I think the only reason it didnt happen is Gata kinda overtook the whole thing and nobody was willing to let him handle any money

The article definitely hit home with me. I'm tired of this shite show. UGA should be in the hunt almost every year but we aren't.

I’ve never been a big Shanks fan, but he delivered in this article. Unfortunately, I foresee a similar Richt article in 5 years.

I took note of Richt and son walking off the field after the florida game and I did think that hs grinning and having a moment with his son at that moment pretty much summed Richt up....do enough to stay at UGA, make as much money as possible and not get overly carried away with wins and losses. That is a great person but those kinds of people are always going to come in second or worse when they are competing against people who would sale their son for a win.

As a UGA fan I like the fact that Richt is that kind of person, but he is never going to have the killer instincts it takes to win it all. The stars will have to align perfectly and it may happen before he leaves UGA but it will be more dumb luck than by design......

As a human being I think Mark Richt lives life the way everyone should. Don't bring your work home with you, have a good balance and level head, and keep perspective. As a Georgia fan, though, I want an irrational bastard who values his success and his team more than petty things like family and faith. But that's just me

I agree with Tyler.

Before any of you says that were just being "Disneys" or taking up for Richt, our view is actually much more damning and problematic than the "Fire Richt" crowd.

There's a reason why some programs win big over time through multiple coaches, and others don't.

Well, since that is the case and it is known in the football world - that would explain a lot. No big time or a coach worth a damn would want to come here.

Oh wait, maybe there is something else at work - maybe Richt is being held back... And maybe the admin really doesn't care what we win.

Inquiring minds want to know.

Among the many initiatives are implementation of a nutrition program for all sports, greater emphasis on customer service as well as community service, scoreboard upgrades enhancing the in-game experience for guests and patrons in all sports, and development of leadership programs fostering staff development. In addition, he has encouraged the experimentation of new ideas such as moving volleyball competition to Stegeman Coliseum and helping bring a sold-out concert (Jason Aldean, 65,000) to Sanford Stadium for the first time in stadium history. He was also instrumental in development and implementation along with Nike of a new brand identity program which brings consistency in use of colors, logos, lettering and numerals to Georgia sports teams.

None of these have a meaningful impact on the football team. It's lipstick on a pig.

If the admin actually put a priority on winning championships in football, they would:
1) hire about 10 additional football staff members.
2) hire 4-5 S&C staff members.
3) Build an indoor facility
4) re-do the locker room, player's lounge, and weight room every 10 years or so.
5) relax penalties for marijuana offenses

Etc.

The admin's current commitment level indicates that they hope to win big, not that they expect or need to. Fans should adjust their expectations accordingly.

The refs cheated
It was too windy
NCAA hates us and if we have TG3 we would have won
If we had just made a few plays in the first half, it would have been different
We don't want someone like Saban as the HC
We still have a chance to win the East since Mizzou can't win out.
Auburn is so lucky .... horseshoe, etc...
Who else would we get if CMR wasn't the HC?
CMR has been the most consistent HC in UGA history
CMR didn't drop that pass or fumble that ball
We have to wait until CJP can get his players in the system
CMB's offense is always one of the highest scoring in the SEC
Etc
Etc

But it all comes back to...

Make no bones about it the Board Of Regents runs the University of Georgia show and everybody below them are on puppet strings...

For me it seems like the SEC in general has been heading in one direction and UGA has been going in another for awhile now. Maybe if we don't wish to spend money needed to win in this neighborhood we might find a new one join Tech in the ACC.

Oh wait, Stegeman was built in 1960 and is sub ACC standard that might be a problem seeing how they push top notch basketball.
