Channel 2 Action News has learned that Fulton County school police have arrested a former cafeteria manager suspected of stealing hundreds of dollars every day for at least five years Channel 2 investigative reporter Richard Belcher says that the total amount of money stolen over a longer period could reach $1 million, based on information from arrest warrants. The alleged thefts took place at North Springs High School in north Fulton County.

A whistleblower provided video inside the North Springs cafeteria. There were four lines that each had a cash register to keep track of the money.
Standing alone was a blue cart that sold a-la-carte items for cash and never had a register.
Now, Belcher has learned that Fulton County school police obtained 10 arrest warrants for former cafeteria manager Brenda Watts.
The warrants accuse Watts of stealing $500 a day from the cafeteria.
Last spring, Belcher asked Beth Walsh, former cafeteria worker, how long the a la carte line had been running.
"At least 15 years. Up to maybe 20,” Walsh said.
The police charge that Watts stole $500 a day. That's $2,500 a week, which is a staggering $90,000 in a school year.
Over 15 years, that would be $1,350,000.

If you gave me 50 tries I don't think I could have given an accurate description of the woman.

well she just got arrested, so she might be on suspension from UGA. Too early to tell if she transfers yet or not

She was the manager per the story, presumably in charge of counting the money. No register, no paper trail.

Could no one in administration compute in their heads that more inventory with less revenue equaled sticky fingers ,or at the least an incompetent cafeteria manager?

I have a feeling they do inventory like many bars. They see whats running low and order more. then they just do a cost/revenue percentage to see where they are. its hard to pinpoint your specific loss or if there was even one.

The big shocker is the fact that Fulton Co actually has a public school that doesn't serve all students free lunch .

No one answered the door when Belcher stopped at the home for comment on this story. Moments later, a late model Mercedes pulled out of the garage and drove away from the home.

I'm aware of it's wealth, just figured it being a public they'd bus enough free lunch deserving students in to make em feel better.

I think they have to provide their own rides now.

She probably went to Stanford so we know she's smart.

I worked with this girl at a food kiosk outside Epcot who had a similar op going. We sold hot dogs, fries, fountain soda and various snacks. She memorized the price of everything and could total it up in her head. Not sure how she got away with it...but the profit margin was insane! $7.50 for a dog and fountain drink.
We also rented out the 4 wheel bicycles with steering wheels. Putting them away at night was so much fun
