Friend of mine was telling me about a bus from chicago to ND for the game a while back. I thought it was some UGA sponsored thing full of dawgs...looked into it and it's a Notre Dame thing that they do for every home game.

I've got a flight, still don't have hotel yet but no rush there, which leaves me with a rental car being the last big hurdle. However, this would practically eliminate the need for one since we can just uber around chicago the rest of the time. Do yall think many UGA folks will join this thing and at least give us a solid presence on there? HAve yall heard anyone else talk about it? If it's going to be jam packed with 95% ND fans it's definitely not worth it at all, but if it was a heavy UGA contingent it sounds like a pretty solid move.
Big downsides would be only getting there 4 hours prior to kickoff, then having to wait around an hour after.

looks like a pretty solid deal minus the whole ND thing. hopefully one of these UGA bus groups gets in on this

I am in the same boat...
I have a flight to Chicago that weekend.
Probably Trump towers or something like that on the river and then Car service to ND.
Car service from Chicago to ND will run about $450 down and $450 back.
That tailgate bus sounds cool though.

I did it to Columbia,MO from St.Charles/St Louis area in '12
It was supposed to be for Mizzou alumns only but they didn't care all that much once we got on board.
Great time and saved a bunch of money and the hassle of driving a couple of hours and finding a parking spot.

There is also a train you can take from Chicago to the ND games. I was told it is a lot of fun.

Better be some hookers and blow before that happens.

Someone posted a few weeks ago that the train has been sold out for months

I'm considering driving over to Chicago on Friday and South Bend on Saturday. Don't have any UGA or ND friends around so I need to figure out if anyone can go with me. Sounds like a lot of this board will be in Chicago that Friday night though

You really want to spend 500-800 for a hote room? There are options 2-3 blocks away just for 130 or so

Sounds a little iffy to me. This isn't one of those short buses is it?

My early plan is to drive from Cincinnati to Chicago on Thursday or Friday and stay there and trek to south bend. Night or two out in wrigleyville and then all day south bend on Saturday. Will likely be with 5-10 uga alums and a notre dame fan from Akron

That was me. We have a group of friends going to the game, one of which was able to get a bunch of tickets from UGA through some group he's in. We have 2 close friends that are ND fans, who have done the train before and it sold out faster then ever before. That is for the chartered party train.
I believe they have a normal train that runs as well, not sure if service will run late enough for that or not.
Also, we are getting the largest visiting team allotment in ND history

That's crazy. We are getting 8k tix (not including the band, I think the official number given to us is like 8,413) it seems like at some point in history they'd have given more to someone.
