Rumored on other sites to be considering tightrope surgery and to shut his season down to get ready for NFL

Rusty saying that's not the case

Something to be aware of though..

ETA: Kirby confirms no surgery is happening. Based on more info sounds like he isd doubtful for Tech, questionable for SECCG

I don’t know Ladd personally but considering where he started from, our programs culture, and the current undefeated status + records we stand to break I highly doubt he will sit out or not go if he can.

His ongoing back issues are going to have to give scouts some concern. He essentially misses 40% of games.

I hope the ankle isn’t true.

The main key to whoever wins it all will be depth and playmaker status.

I don't blame him. We have players that can step up, but ladd is a DGD regardless what he does

The guy that sat behind me Saturday said he talked to Ladd's dad in the bathroom (this is not a joke I'm serious) and his dad said that he never really intended to play much this weekend, he just wanted to be there for the coin toss but wasn't going to be much of the game plan.

My uninfomred guess is that when his ankle got rolled up against ole miss it may hurt worse than originally led on so we used him as a decoy saturday and will likely sit him entirely against tech.

Unless he truly has a high ankel sprain and is totally fricked (which I doubt, considering he did run some routes in game this weekend) I don't see why he'd shut things down in the most crucial part of the season.

Not to mention if we beat Bama and get to the playoff, he’ll have nearly a month to rest it.

Ron Courson is the best in the biz. There's not a chance in hell Ladd wouldn't have had surgery last week if it was necessary, IMO.

I don’t see Ladd tanking his last year unless he has to sit because of injuries.

That said, I’d rest him for GT so he’s ready for the final run.

Rusty and on3 saying he may miss this week and Bama, but he is not shutting his season down and is not getting tight rope.

Lot of different info on this one.

Rowe said this morning that he "doesn't believe" Ladd will miss both the next two weeks.

However, Insider apparently says he hopes that true, but still thinks its a high ankle and will have surgery later this week

He looked fine running his routes against UT when he was in there. He played the first 8 minutes after watching the full game replay. Could have been a decoy, but it also looked like they locked him down 1:1 every route he ran.

Doesn't look like a high ankle sprain because he is cutting just fine.

Also, let's say he did have some sort of high ankle issue, the Bama game will be 3 weeks from the time he got injured. Enough time to heal and get back for the SECG.

IF he misses that game and we win, then its plenty of time to get back to New Years playoff game

High ankle sprains are painful and take months to heal, that’s why they have the right rope surgery, to get recovery from 8-12 weeks down to 3-5 weeks.

I’m not saying it is, but if it were a High Ankle sprain, no chance he will play SECCG

I agree that’s a better timeline, especially if he has the surgery, but then Ladd needs to think about draft vs CFP, which would be more difficult choice coming off that type of injury, especially for someone with a history of injuries

true, which is why him playing at all against UT would seem to rule out a HAS.

^ this

He couldn't have played for 8 minutes and make those cuts if it were high ankle sprain.

I think Ladd in hard fought games, he takes longer to heal up for the next week with his back and possibly the ankle injury he got in Ole Miss. Seems Kirby knows this and rotates in Bell and Smith depending on the situation and timing of the game.

I think he sits until Bama game since we do NOT need him against GT (Bell and Smith) are more than viable options

Kirby just settled it...
quote:

“He’s got a tweaked ankle that he tweaked here in the game at home,” Smart said. “It bothered him a little bit Saturday but nothing anything more severe than that. I feel good that he’s going to be good to return. I guess there’s been some question about tightrope surgery. That’s not the case at all. I don’t know where that is coming from.
