We need something INNOVATIVE on offense. I'm not saying we abandon Power I schemes to play to our strengths, but something HAS to give. Saban innovated at Bama by bringing the defense to the forefront. Meyer broke new ground by employing spread looks and showing that you can win at the highest level with it. Even Gus brought a new wrinkle to the game, and split 2 BCSCG with it.
I'm obviously not endorsing the Gus Bus, but it underscores the need to be a good mammal and adapt. Many aspects of CFB appear to have passed CMR by.
I could be totally wrong in the fullness of time, but I don't get the vibe that Kirby is the guy to get it done. I'm really disappointed that they don't appear to be giving Herman a real look.

ehhhh, I'm not so sure. We weren't really innovative when bobo was shattering school records. Bama isn't particularly innovative either, they just have elite OL and excellent RBs.
The bottom line, to me, is that if you have a dominant defense it doesnt' matter a ton what kind of offense you run. A smart/pruitt defense would be lethal, so there's no need to reinvent the wheel on offense.

Rivals "insider" saying KS inked this morning and bringing Napier, Cochran and Tyson Helton (OC) with him. nothing about DC though. nothing will be made public until after SEC champ game.

I'm not sure which post you're referring to, but basically that he thinks those who feel UGA has a solid plan in place is kidding themselves. Also that in the next 48 hours, Kirby saying he has no interest is as likely as him coming to Athens, given all the monkey business with the AD.
Doesn't seem like he actually knows anything, to be honest. He hasn't even been posting until someone called him out and asked what he thought.

'06 CEO role forced on Coach.
12 months ago - Coach pushes to get back to coaching football FULL time. No go. Schotty is hired. Duties of CEO reinforced in new contract and it goes unsigned.
One month ago - discussions begin, and for coach they begin with getting back to coaching FULL time. No go. Contract still unsigned.
'Mutual decision' because coach doesn't want to keep doing this the way it's being done anymore. He wants to invest in the student-athletes and coach football.
Weird presser because UGA needs Mark right now more than Mark needs UGA.
Last two UGAAA meetings - no traction with some on the board floating a plan toward McGarity retiring at 65 next year. Seals the deal.
My best guess is that Kirby takes it - too big a temptation - even with the compromises it will entail - some that could set us back for some time.
EDIT: And, to answer questions about Pruitt - I would be shocked, if he comes back to coach for UGA. Very low probability. We will need a top notch OC and DC, because Kirby is going to be running the UGA football program without a ton of help from the the AD - something he has never done before or HAS EVER SEEN done before at Bama.

He's not an insider for what it's worth.

I used to like Radi but the dude is nothing but walking click-bait now. I understand the industry he's in, but he can take it over the top.
Yeah, I agree with you here. I also feel like he lets his relationships with certain players/coaches get in the way of being objective when it comes to criticism, but I guess I kind of get that.
Hopefully at the end of all this crap, we end up with a good OC, because with our defensive personnel and KS, I think that side of the ball isn't going to be an issue.

Some of the "insiders" have echoed his sentiments, or at least agreed with his general synopsis of the whole Richt/ADGM dynamic.
What is noticeably glaring from his posts is thoughts on the future of the program. Just because the dynamic didn't work for Richt doesn't necessarily mean it will hold our next coach back. Maybe they prefer the CEO role. No reason to get all up in arms about it yet, although McDawg's retelling of the Richt saga is very disappointing if it is accurate.

Some things are common knowledge. Lowndes25 who is a known insider has said as much many times. Mcdawg has been around forever. Trust me, he is not an insider. He just reads into things and forms an opinion.

I would be okay with Fedora. He's been a winner at USM and UNC.

Thanks. I am relatively new over there so I haven't seen too much of his other stuff.
I hate that there is so much information being passed around now by people who are several rungs removed. I wish posters (or at least VIP posters) were required to post a source at the beginning of a thread before divulging anything.

you realize that's the last time they'd get any inside info, right?

I'm not saying name names, but I care a hell of a lot more about what people have to say when they can say they know someone whose father is on the board, or they stayed at the beach house of a board member and found some scribblings on a notepad...anything really. Those are the rocks of truth that I cling to. Sad times.

This is the South man. Gossip is what we do and it's always done under the caveat that no names are to be named. "You didn't hear it from me..." is an unspoken beginning to damn near every sentence we type, speak, or blow out of our asses.

I have no inside info, but I don't see any way Pruitt stays if Kirby is hired.
He basically has been running the defense with no influence from anyone else.
I can't wrap my head around him working underneath smart, when he could just go back to Bama.

And you think he'd have total control at Bama?

wait...you think he'd bail if we get kirby since he'd lose some of his control...only to go back to alabama and work under Saban's defense?
