That's been the hope from the start, but it's far from a guarantee. We have a lot of talented underclassmen that should improve with experience, and a strong class or two m to follow should give us a nice roster from top to bottom.

Are you insinuating that coaching cannot improve a players abilities? I don't fully understand or know about Peter Buck.....did he play in the NFL? from what I understand, he played in college at Georgia. That's a lot better than most people on this board, wouldn't you say? You guys may not understand this, but people who have actually played at a high level do have a better understanding about the inner workings of a football team.
Guys, PB didn't play football at UGA, nor was he a member of REM. He's just a dude posting on DR. Some of you have very short memories about insider info last season that was totally incorrect. Former players (and band members) don't hang out on forums like this. Let's get. Little real here.

If buck didnplay at Uga, all he did was prove that coaching has its limitations. Talent is the biggest part of the equation.

You're right. That are no guarantees. however, when you make a coaching change you have to be all in. There is no turning back. I still believe Kirby will get us where we want to be. It just won't be the seamless transition everybody was hoping for. It does no good to complain about Smart, but it is ok to criticize. Goodness, there was enough criticism last year, and two of our four games do warrant criticism
All in all, though, I think we will be pleased with Kirby in the long run.

Really? I know for a fact that there are several that hang out and post on the rant. I can't speak for Peter Buck, but just because some kind of insider information was wrong last year...that doesn't convince me he is not what he says he is. Insider information is wrong all the time....and that information comes from legitimate sources. maybe Peter Buck is. Maybe he isn't.

You absolutely do have to have talent of some kind. But nobody can deny that there have been kids with lesser talent that played above their abilities with good coaching while kids with all the talent in the world that greatly underperformed due to poor coaching.

I get the schtick you have been rolling with, but it fails to recognize the team aspect of football players. It takes 11 guys doing their jobs to make most plays work. It takes timing, awareness, understanding, vision, knowledge, and athletic ability.
The NFL has a number of players who played on sub 500 college teams. Some played on good D3 teams that could not stay on the field with a good D1 team. Some Hiesman winners never made it in the pros. They, in many cases, were a product of a good system, but also did well executing said system.
It is not a simple math formula.... Lots of variables. Recruiting is what separates teams and coaching is the great equalizer. Teams that win, usually have a pretty good combo of both. This team has plenty of talent... It could use some more, but there is enough that it could be playing better football. In fact, this seems to be one of the most undisciplined football teams I have seen here. This is shocking to me as based on reputation, I assumed we would be moving in the opposite direction. A knock on Richt teams was the lack of discipline. This team sinks to a whole new level.
UNC game was encouraging. I chalked the mishaps up to first game jitters. Nichols state appears to have been a harbinger. Mizz we won with superior talent and some luck and poor defensive play calling on their part. A few good adjustments on our's.
Ole Miss exposed us. Not just our talent... It was our scheme, coaching, discipline, and so much more. It is scary how far he let the team and game get away from him.

This is perfectly succinct.
You only get blown out like that when you have multiple problems.

It's the same crap team from last year minus a consensus 1st team SEC LT, one of Tim Brady's wr's, it's 2 best defensive players who start in the nfl, a nfl kicker, and an upperclass front 7, so if that's true, no one should be shocked.
