I don't know if any of you saw the picture attached to Chip Towers story before the game but apparently Keith Marshall was tailgating and hanging out at frat beach this weekend. I had heard that he wasn't making the trip but I'm completely blown away he decided to come down and booze during his week off (there is no photographic evidence he drinks, but let's assume here). Now, maybe he's decided on not coming back this year and has decided to just screw it for the rest of the year, but if he's ready to come back next week, I'm completely baffled he'd show up with such a blatant lack of respect for the team.

Just another example of the sort of slack the UGA program cuts its players. It's not like Keith has done anything wrong but it's a symptom of something wrong with the culture of our program at the moment. If Keith Marshall is ready to go and focused, he's back in Athens rehabbing and ready to help the team next week, not partying it up in Jacksonville. I can speak for myself when I say that If I was in Keith's shoes, my dad probably would've called me on my cell and completely chewed my arse out from here til doomsday. I just am baffled by the complete lack of awareness from Keith and this post isn't about him but the sorta crap that seems to be tolerable under richt.

Again, it's not like he did anything wrong, but it just shows a complete lack of focus from him and the team. Party in the off-season all you want, but for fall semester, try and be the best at what they gave you a scholarship for.

He sat in Section 112 for the game. Todd Gurley was in Jax as well.

I saw Keith at Brogan's (a bar on SSI) on Thursday night and again on Frat Beach. I did not see him touch alcohol. I also saw Keyon Brown and he was not drinking either. Maybe they did at some point but I see Keith on a fairly regular basis downtown with a lot of the team and have never seen him drink. A lot of people were understandably alarmed that he was at SSI and Frat Beach this week. Not sure if Richt addressed this or not.

I heard Todd was on Frat Beach as well but did not see him to confirm.

Basically every player that doesn't travel with team down to Jax stays at SSI and, being in college, they pretty much all go to frat beach. The Long brothers and Kolton. Houston were there a couple of years back, there's nothing disrespectful about it. These are kids that (gasp) have lives outside of football. Did you expect him to stay locked in his dorm room back in Athens all weekend long and try to telepathically will the team to victory?

I will never forget his performance vs. Florida in 2011. He left his soul and body on the field that night. DGD indeed.

He was there. He wasn't drinking though.

I'm not really sure its worth reading into that much to be honest. If he wasn't going to play on Saturday regardless I think it was pretty harmless.

If we had won, this thread would be how cool it was to see Keith Marshall at Frat Beach.

1.) He's a student and he wasn't playing this week (has likely been told he will be redshirting).
2.) He is over 21, so he's legally allowed to drink if he wants.
3.) He isn't the first player to go to frat beach (many redshirts and walk-ons do so).

What did he have to focus on? Was he supposed to stay at home and watch game film or work out? He's a college athlete with a rare chance to legally have the same fun other college students get to do. Good for him for making the most of the weekend.

There's a lot bigger things to be concerned about. How an athlete spends a weekend they aren't playing isn't one of them as long as they're aren't getting arrested. I have zero problem with him experiencing what a large portion of other UGA students do that weekend.

I have the image of Richt giving him a huge hug after he stopped Mizzou's fake punt in 2012 engraved in my memory. A DGD indeed.

Yeah man, If I were to make a list of running backs who have disrespected the team, Keith Marshall would totally be at the top.

This. If the players aren't traveling, they hang out with their friends on frat beach. OP is feigning outrage and is simply looking for another thing to be pissed about.

I will state again, HE DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG. Yes, he has every right to spend his free time however he likes. He is by all accounts a hell of a student and good dude, but Saban would never ever let this happen. the player would be too scared to pull that shite.

On a separate topic, we're in the middle of a golden age of high school football talent in GA and we're wasting it on Richt. Who knows how much longer this widow will last.

damn you're full of the retard. Just read what you post next time.

Keith Marshall was being a normal UGA student on a weekend he wasn't dressing for the game. As long as he isn't breaking the law, no one gives a shite. Think he was calling our defensive players from the beach telling them not to worry about setting the edge or tackling? Cause that's about the only way it would've had any effect whatsoever on the team.

Also

Yea lets just make an assumption and then use it to baselessly accuse him of not giving a shite and using it to bitch about the program. There's so many things to complain about right now, there's no use doing the mental gymnastics to try and make this work. Keith Marshall is the least of our problems.
