Gunner unbuttons his chin strap and runs off the field like "aw shucks, we're about to punt," even the ball is at the Auburn 36 yard line. And then Gunner has to run back onto the field because he's the holder, and the field goal is rushed. Kirby had two timeouts.

We lose by 3 points.

I wish I could fast forward to Tuesday or Wednesday so I could flush this god foreaken loss out of my system. Feels like the fricking twilight zone.

Feels like it did during the last years of the CMR era

This is what happened in the Ole Miss sugar bowl. Head injury not thinking clearly.

We lost in an eerily similar fashion.

The coaches did everything they could, the players literally screwed this up.

Today feels like 2016. And also like the last years of the CMR era like you say. 2019 South Carolina would be the other comp.

At some during the game, I thought "damn I almost forgot what this feels like."

That is eerie when you put it that way. You're wondering if Gunner has a concussion. But then he comes back to life and it looks like we're going to win. But then we lose, and you're still wondering if Gunner had a concussion. The only difference was today wasn't New Years and I wasn't trying to decide if I was going to kill my drunk brother in the mountains.

Gunner def was concussed to a degree and digned his shoulder. He obviously was not seeing the field and making the throws he has made this season. With all that he almost won it for us in spite of so much going wrong. It sucks to lose. We were down a lot of players and Kirby obviously sensed the mid season grind. We had all that, plus major mistakes with discipline. Give credit to Auburn. They played a solid game.

Thankfully, we have 2 weeks off and the season ahead of us. It would not surprise me if the playoffs have a number of 2 loss SEC Teams in it. Maybe even 3 loss.
There are zero undefeated in conference SEC teams,
4, 1 loss teams on the SEC leaderboard and 2 of those teams have played one less SEC game than us…
The majority of SEC teams have 5 or 6 SEC games left. We have 4.

Quitters quit and fighters keep fighting.

Personally, I think the concussion rhetoric is an excuse.

Just like Bama fans thinking that they can't straight up lose to UGA... searching for something to tell their brain that the world as they knew it before is OK

Gunner landed on his head. But it didn't look like some damaging blow to his head.
What looked dangerous was his full weight on his neck. I immediately worried about a neck/spine injury.
As it turns out, he had a stinger.

Gunner had a bad game. I felt like it was coming.
Aaron Murray said that he wouldn't have thrown that 3rd down conversion to Williams in the Bama game. Essentially, it was a poor read and excellent throw.
I think we all saw it from Gunner. He was playing out over his skiis. That is tough to maintain over a season.

The first pick was like that great throw to #10 in the Bama game. Bad read against cover 2. The 2 good drives. The good drives at the end. Gunner wasn't concussed. He just had an overconfidence that his arm could fit balls into tight windows. That confidence was relatively new (compared to the gunner we saw 2024 and 2025).

Gunner was definitely fricked up on that play and it deserves to be talked about but that mess is ultimately on Kirby and the coaching malpractice that took place. It is worth reiterating that this is extremely uncharacteristic of Kirby as he is usually on top of things like this every which way you can imagine, but that call was head scratching and completely in defensible. What the hell is the point of taking multiple timeouts into halftime with you? As soon as he saw gunner didn't know what the hell was going on and had to Sprint out onto the field with the dwindling clock to force us to hurry up and Rush the kick we should have called a time out. That's an absolute no-brainer. I know Kirby isn't always forthright with the media so we will never know what was going through his head but they're truly is no reason to not stop the clock and regroup ourselves at that point.

I heard that he was asked about the field goal execution and time out.

But when I watched the press conference there was no audio on the questions. And I don't remember him addressing not using the timeout.

Did you hear something?

I am pretty confident Gunnar got his bell rung first play. I also watched him throwing on sideline and he was trying to loosen his throwing arm like his shoulder was digned. How much it was rung, I do not know. I assume he worked his way through protocol. Maybe his typical demeanor helped him pass protocol. Either way, kid is tough as nails for playing that game out and balling. He just made some mistakes he typically does not make.

I agree a time out would have been a good idea on that FG. I also agree that Gunnar not being out there is telling about where his head was.

I'm convinced that Gunner not being ready for his placeholder assignment was a sign that he was playing with a concussion.
Kirby should have recognized the issue at that point and put Puglisi in the game and hope for the best.
The simple fact that Gunner threw 2 uncharacteristic INTs and that game killing fumble was clear evidence that he wasn't playing healthy.

What if I feel as if Gunner wasn't right in the head and we played like shite and Auburn deserved to win?

Ironically on Dawgnation Daily they were talking about how this game's had a big upset every decade on years ending in 6. Going back to 1986, 96, 2006, 2016, and now the trend continues
