I just find it kind of frustrating that ESPN/Sport networks give so much shite to Tim Tebow due to his beliefs and his "praying" on the field etc. Meanwhile the past two days they've done nothing but blow Jason Collins for him coming out. In no way am I trying to start a debate here but am I not the only one who thinks this is pretty stupid.?

Discuss.

When did this happen on ESPN?

Nobody blows Tebow harder than ESPN. Am I missing something?

ESPN trying to show tolerance towards gays and religion to draw a larger audience.

Also am I the only one who thinks Collins did this because he's a mediocre player on the wrong side of his prime trying to pressure the league into getting him signed? If no one signs him it'd be a PR nightmare for the NBA

In my book, heroes pull people out of a burning building, risk their life for a worthy cause, charge the machine gun nest, climb aboard the unproven rocket, etc.

Coming out of the closet in today's day and age to cheers, applause and gushing adoration is hardly heroic.

And waiting until the end of your career to do so to limit any pressure from the fans/players.

In comparison, Jackie Robinson dealt with being the "first" every day from the beginning.

Now Tim Tebow just needs to come out of the closet and then they'd really have something to talk about.

When I say ESPN I mean First take and those shows. Stephen A Smith would always say Tebow was "Tebowing" for attention.

I completely agree.

Also have any of you seem what Chris Broussards take on this was? Pretty awesome.

Stephen A Smith is annoying as hell. I literally can't stand listening to that tool.

My favorite thing about Smith is Jay Pharaoh's impression of him on SNL.

Yes, because Tim Tebow never used his religion for attention.....hell him being a good guy, and an openly religious guy was his "thing" and is the only reason he remained in the NFL as long as he did.

however, I agree that it would have been far more courageous to be out all along. At the same time, just because people say one thing in the open, doesn't mean they won't snark someone behind their back---looking at you internet. And that ain't the half of it- what you really have to worry about is some crazy zealot coming after you.

then again, I think the term hero is completely overused, even when referring to service men and women.

Now that Tebow is unemployed and beginning his downward spiral he needs to come out and say that Collins' is a sinner and not a role model. Then we can have a full-blown (no pun intended) shitstorm! Hooray!

Maybe it makes me a bad person, but I actively root for Tebow to fail. He's not getting paid to take the moral high ground, he was paid millions of dollars to be a quarterback, and unfortunately for him, he wasn't good at it. Tremendous rusher, shitty passer. Football 101. Learn it, gayter.
