Losing Burrow is the big deal for LSU.

Losing Brady is going to sting.

But losing Burrow is going to set LSU back a lot more then the fans seem to think.

I honestly think Burrow and those WR made Brady look a lot better then he actually is.

Just my opinion.

I think there is a lot of truth in that.

Face it as an LSU fan History is clear for us.
We are a program that runs in cycles. LSU has been averaging 10.1 wins over the last 20 years.
BUT we seem to rise to a NC (or play for one) then regress a bit to 9-4 10-3 type seasons for a few years (Still great for most programs) but never really challange for an NC. Having Bama in your division contributes a lot to that.
Then in about 4-5 years they will put together something special and sneak up on people and win one.

They have won 3 NC (played for 4) since Saban raised us from the dead. The 3 wins all by different coaches and Ironically all 4 NC title games LSU has played in just happens to be when the game is in New Orleans.

So I fully expect us to regress a bit next year. No LSU fan with commons sense thinks back to back is a reality with ALL that we are losing. I mean how can you not after 15-0 and a NC. The only way to go is down at this point.

But has someone pointed out in another thread here.
If you would have told me you get 15-0, win a Heisman and NC but you lose a lot of super stars and a key assistant coach at the end

Not a single fan of ANY program would not have signed up for that.

100% agree - Brady's impact was over-stated. They were playing with a dominant assortment of offensive talent - Chase will be a top 10 pick as a WR, Burrow #1 overall, and Moss/Jefferson/Marshall/CEH are all likely 1st / 2nd / 3rd round talents as well.

How often have the Biletnikov and Heisman (particularly when QB) winner been on the same team even? I can't imagine it's been that often.

It was just as ridiculous an offensive assortment of talent as Bama with Tua + Ruggs/Waddle/Jeudy/etc - with perhaps more length on the outside.

I agree.
What is also being missed in this. Is Brady wasnt some Offensive Genius that had this long track OC record of Offensive Prowess and LSU Stole him from some top ranked team.

He was basically a GA for the Saints and studied under Brees and the saints offensive staff. LSU brought him in to incorporate the Saints offensive philosophy. Which he did very effectively.

Again Losing our players like Burrow, Jefferson, Clyde Edwards Helair is the big blow. Sure Brady hurts but again its not like he is taking some magic playbook away that he developed and only knew. (No Waterboy Movie Pun intended)
He brought the saints passing scheme to LSU that he learned as an offensive assistant there. Again no one knew his name this time last year.

Coaches meet with other coaches all the time in the offseason to learn and grow in their professional career.

LSU just happened to bring back one of their coaches (to go along with the lessons learned).
The secret sauce wasnt Brady. Having him all season (instead of the offseason only) helped.
But the secret sauce was the personnel(especially Burrow)

Burrow was average as grits last year, the secret sauce was absolutely Brady who elevated his game

Brady did not provide elite accuracy and elusiveness to burrow. Many qbs would have looked far worse than burrow did this year.

You dont need a guru to send chase out long, Jefferson on crossing route, and ceh in the flat and let burrow do his thng.

I cant agree. Watch burrows highlights. He creates offense and elevates the players around him.
He did it last season against us as well.
In 2018, he ran for three 4th down conversions (1 rushing TD and the other 2 led to field goals) and he ran for another TD. 20 points riding on Burrows legs alone last year. 88 yards from scrimmage.

He could always be a team leader to carry a team when needed.

It seems like the hit he took in the Fiesta Bowl kicked him into total domination mode.

I know he kicked our arse twice, but he might be my new all-time favorite non-dawg CFB player. I can't wrap my mind around his stat line from this year.
