Do they have any other witnesses besides the one who is recanting via Affidavit? What are the basis for these charges other than her testimony?
Absolute lunacy

He should scream racism so the NAACP will come running.

Or claim to be an illegal and they will drop all charges and give him a parade.

CY8 and his attorney Kim Stephens have petitioned for a trial date on January 6.

Governor Kemp should just pardon a bunch of people around the state dealing with vindictive Soros DAs as a holiday miracle and have him included in the stack.

The DA's office in Athens is still controlled by progressive turds. I'm sure it's killing them to decide whether to bury a football player or let him go since he's black. I have no idea how this will play out.
The case is in state court and is being handled by the solicitor, not the DA.

Georgia governors do not have the power to pardon.

Ever heard of body cams?

Good luck with that. Half of body cam footage is shown with no audio

Are you assuming that the primary charge, battery and assault, happened while the cops were there?
I seriously doubt that.

You don't think they recorded the statements that she made on scene?

You don't think the prosecutor has reviewed them and knows what they have on video?

Doesn't matter what the prosecutor sees, only matters what he can prove with a witness denying it all or explaining around it
.this is a waste of state resources.

And those trump the statements she's making now how?
She's the "victim' and has said every claim she made was false. Without her as a cooperative witness for the prosecution, and in fact a witness for the defense, how exactly is the state going to win this case? Perhaps more importantly, WHY would they proceed to trial with an uncooperative "victim" who has recanted?
Football aside, this is a colossal waste of taxpayers' money and prosecutorial resources. I'd wager a good bit of loot on the fact there are plenty of victims who have chosen NOT to drop charges against their assailants who are still seeking justice for legitimate rape, physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, etc. How should these women feel?

I’m glad that you have no first hand experience with domestic violence. Truly, I am, because if you had, you’d already know the answers to your questions.

Based on the actual stories from both involved, she was just as much of an aggressor as he was, if not more.
The DA was just voted out and more than half of the referrals they receive from campus police are never prosecuted, but yet they seem to be obsessed with pushing this beyond a reasonable conclusion.

As I have posted numerous times, the DA has nothing to do with this case. It is in state court and is being prosecuted by the solicitor’s office.
The UGA Police had nothing to do with this case. It was investigated by the ACCPD.

Forgive me if this has been addressed, but why did the State take it over?

This stuff would have been dropped quickly in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Louisiana, Ohio etc....
It's a waste of resources. He was at his home minding his own business....

The “state” didn’t take it over.
The superior court is the court of general jurisdiction in every county in GA.
In some counties with a high misdemeanor case load, the legislature creates a “state court” that handles misdemeanors and some civil cases. Clarke County is one of those counties. Less than half of the counties in GA have a state court.
The prosecutor in state court is the solicitor general, an elected county position, not the district attorney.
