As far as I know the competition for that position is healthy. Whoever emerges will have had to earn it. Hoping Gibbs emerges as our Star

The USC, Missouri, LSU and Auburn games worry me. Good leadership, strong OL and a fast hard hitting defense will help us win the East.

Would love to hear some of the smoke/fire around swift and Zeus

Swift is rumored to have a lingering groin issue that appeared last year. It limited him in the Rose Bowl and against Alabama and there’s some uncertainty around how he’ll hold up under strain and exertion. Rumor on Zeus is that he won’t be playing much until mid-way through the season due to progression of his recovery.

Edit: I agree with the guy above me. I’m worried about USC, LSU, and Auburn. Florida and Missouri to a lesser degree. UGA will have the Alabama target on their backs after 2017, and 9-3 and second in the East would be disappointing after coming so close last year.

Logically, it can be said that we have a step (or half step) backwards at RT and LT. Expectations shouldnt be at all American at LT or freshman all American at RT.

I've been thinking about the OLine, and actually think we take a half to full step back at LT, stay even or a little better at RT, and see at least small improvements everywhere else.

I love Andrew Thomas and think he is great, but he will be taking over for a 1st round NFL draft pick and it will be his first year at LT. That's why I think we take a bit of a step back at LT.

At RT, Isaiah Wilson is a RS Freshman, but has had a year to familiarize himself with Pittman's system, and get his body where it needs to be. The other guys should bump up at least a tad for being a year older/stronger and being more familiar with Pittman's system.

Just my observations/thoughts.

Based on the injury he had, the only thing that would limit Zeus from early action would be coaches holding him out. He will be ready to go physically.

ACL w/o complications is simply a faster rehab than it once was. What I see is a lot of older folks who are still conditioned that any knee ligament injury is a minimum 1 year out...just isn't the case anymore.

Webb should be 100% for camp and I've heard the same about Swift and Zeus. We really need Rochester to step up this season and how about a Michail Carter sighting? Really in the trenches UGA looks good to go, the SEC is a LOS league and we look jacked stacked.

Have also heard Webb is good to go. Expect him to start at corner opposite of Baker. Backend of Reed and Lecounte. Big time battle at star between McGhee, Gibbs, Campbell, Speed, Poole.

Overall I think the secondary will be a big strength this year. Most talent we have had back there in a long time.

Mizzou and Auburn are the two that make me wonder. USCe really doesn’t worry me, nor does LSU.

USCe and Mizzou are breaking in first time offensive coordinators who have never been full time play callers. Both replace big losses on defense (more than we do) and do not have a plethora of blue chip talent lined up to fill in. Don't foresee either being significantly better than they were last year, and both would need to be significantly improved to keep the games close.

Auburn is one that I think will be improved over last year. I like our chances at home and looking to avenge our only regular season loss last year.

I actually don't. I mean, they could be.....but they lost 4/5 of their Oline that started in the SECCG. they lost their two top RB's, their best pass rusher, best LB, and their two best DB's.

The key for them will be their OLine. If they can gell, they might be okay. If not it could get really ugly, really fast.

They have Washington, LSU and MState in their first 6 games. If they stumble it could snowball for them.

They might be just as good as last year, but I really don't look for them to be better.

I have seen no information from legitimate sources regarding Swift and Zeus being behind schedule. Nothing at all about Swift being injured, and 247 has actually reported that White is on schedule for an early season comeback within the last couple days.

I've been Richt too many times to get my hopes up for this season. Last season was something special but we still couldn't close it out when we needed to. I'll take it game-by-game this year.

That's been my motto since my freshman year ended in 2014. Being a student for the '14, '15, and '16 seasons was a true test of character. 2017 felt like a dream and I'm worried we might not be able to recapture that magic, this year.

Obviously once the talent keeps flowing in, and gets more mature, magic can go frick itself while we steam roll.

I’m not saying we won’t be good or we aren’t talented. That could be furthest from the truth. All I’m saying is we’re pretty young in some very key positions. I honestly wouldn’t be upset if UGA won 12 games with a NY6 Bowl victory. I honestly think that would be a helluva season leading into (high candidate) for one of the best teams UGA has ever fielded heading in to 2019. Exciting times.

Those aren’t legit rumors. Those are just negative Nancy thoughts.

That team will be fun to watch. So will this one though. We’ll see a glimpse of what’s to come...

That defense and stadium has potential to limit our offensive effectiveness more than any team outside of AU.

Just like last year, when we started 3 freshmen on offense. I doubt we start as many freshmen this year.
