lol Really? That's the reason? I thought it was failing to develop talent, and shitting the bed in many games we could have won?

Then again, if he for instance transfers to Washington, he's closer to home and probably has a better chance of more playing time and more recognition by pro scouts. But likely less of a chance of being part of a championship team.

You can't be serious about him having less of a chance at a championship if he transfers to Washington can you?

Washington was in the playoff last year when was the last time Georgia was in the playoff oh yeah we haven't made them yet.

Also on a year in year out basis Washington is probably going to have an easier schedule most years being in the PAC.

This is the exact thought process that is ruining high school athletics and has already ruined middle school and below. It's not all about you and what you can get out of it. It's about the team and how you can help the team regardless of your role. This is the exact narcacistic viewpoint that is destroying our country.

bullshite. A lot of these stud recruits are only here for themselves, which is why you see 40 and 50 year old grown men groveling, damn near begging, these kids to join their programs.

NCAAF is a gateway to the NFL, plain and simple. These kids want the opportunity to highlight their skills on a big stage and under the bright lights. It's just like minor league baseball where players will tell you it's all about racking up stats and team performance comes second.

Any recruit, Eason included, who doesn't make decisions based upon their own futures are really going to come to regret it later in life. Jacob Eason should follow whichever path he believes will lead to either an NFL gig or a top-notch education.

I think those two things you listed are actually great examples of what Jim was talking about.

We've done a good job of developing talent. The NFL is littered with former UGA players to prove it. What we haven't been able to do is use that talent to improve our overall teams. Not enough discipline and focus as a team has led to us defecating the sheets time and time again. As a team, we haven't been prepared to play every game and it seems that, so far, we've turned a corner in that regard.

Also, I'm not so sure that playing as a backup will necessarily hurt his draft stock with NFL teams looking for a tall pro-style QB with a big arm.

You might be right, but I can't think of a single QB who was a backup his entire time in college that was drafted.

Actually, I didn't realize that. However, one would not make me feel comfortable about trying that, if I were eason. And he went in the 7th round. All I am saying is a kid who was touted as being the best QB in his class, and many were (rightfully or wrongfully) projecting him as a future first round draft pick probably will not want to ride the bench for his college career, and then take a chance of being drafted in the nFL.

But....nice catchon Cassel!

This kind of re-kindles a question that I've been pondering. How much of the development of these players goes to the institution and how much goes to the Coaches and incidentally their systems they install?
