This is the exact thought process that is ruining high school athletics and has already ruined middle school and below. It's not all about you and what you can get out of it. It's about the team and how you can help the team regardless of your role. This is the exact narcacistic viewpoint that is destroying our country.

Double Dawg,
Ive been meaning to ask you...
Are you a true 'double dawg '?
I only recently became aware of the term when my wife became one.

The realistic answer is that Smart is no longer treating it like a competition.
He never has in reality. It's been coach speak for the qbs. The job was Eason's all spring and summer and now it's all Fromm all fall. It takes awful play or an injury to lose it.

I understand what you are saying and to a point agree with you. But, it happened when sports became a multi-billion dollar industry. The kids are more interested in doing what is best for their chances at making a lot of money. It's hard to blame them. We would all do the same thing.
Picture this:
"I can either do what is best for the team and make $1 million dollars, or I can do what is best for me and make $10 million." If a kid tries to "put the team first" by giving them a good backup QB, they might not get drafted at all.

Yep, it can be a tough decision for a young man but it pretty much boils down to realistic prospects and the players expectations and aspirations. In Eason's case knowing that we have another #1 QB (and a dual-threat at that) coming into the program he might be best advised to transfer closer to home at the end of the season. Obviously most Dawg fans want him to stay providing quality depth at QB position but Eason needs to consider what's in his best interests as well.
If he wants to be part of an up and coming program at UGA, then stay and role the dice that a break will return you to the starting role. Also, I'm not so sure that playing as a backup will necessarily hurt his draft stock with NFL teams looking for a tall pro-style QB with a big arm.
Then again, if he for instance transfers to Washington, he's closer to home and probably has a better chance of more playing time and more recognition by pro scouts. But likely less of a chance of being part of a championship team.
I can see it both ways. Life is about choices and some are tough and potentially life changing. Regardless, I wish Eason well. He played pretty darn well for us last season as a true Freshman all things considered.

Does Eason want to get better and is he willing to put in the time and sacrifice to reach his potential?
I have been told by former players that Ramsey was not willing. I wonder if Eason is cut from same cloth. Fromm seems to be a self-motivated guy (like an Aaron Murray or David Greene). I think that is HUGE.
Heck, maybe Eason stays because he enjoys the Athens nightlife and is content being #2

Eason's problem isn't that he's not getting enough 1st team reps ... it's because he's not getting enough leadership reps. Ask Butch Jones about this.

Eason is getting a pass because he has a lot of the issues Stafford had when he was young. However he has some major issues that haven’t appeared to get fixed in the 8 passes he’s thrown this year. He doesn’t get through the early part of the progression, he’s arrogant in his arm and constantly throws off his back foot, he makes bad decisions, he doesn’t feel pressure or have pocket awareness. His arm strength and height will prevail in the NFL, but his w/l this year would be far inferior to Fromm. I know y’all are going to go nuts about this comment, but he should transfer to Miami where Richt will coddle him until he gets it. Frommward

I don't want Eason to transfer. I want him to be the backup until we need him to play or until a better backup comes along (Fields).

How does it work with transfer recruitment?
Does the player have to contact the other school? Fill out a form? Reverse recruitment?

It doesn't matter what Fromm does on the field or in practice. The OP is still going to believe Eason hasn't been treated fairly and could maybe have improved from last year and be so much better than Fromm. It's always wait until Fromm: has to go into a real hostile environment, has to throw 50 times in a game, gets hit hard, runs into a real defense that will pick apart his passes. Fromm and Easons experiences aren't that far apart now. The ship is sailing and if Eason leaves, I think UGA will be ok.

We will. That said it’d be really dumb for him to bail midseason

I completely agree. He's one injury away from being the guy again. If Fromm makes it through the year healthy, I couldn't blame him nor have any ill feelings towards him if he decides to leave after the season.

It's not spelled with a double D, for a "double dose" of his dawgness.

Dude, you can totally make a career out of that in the NFL!

Get out of here. Focusing on an individual player instead of the team Is exactly why we haven’t won a championship in 30 years. You are poison.
