As some of you may know he’s been one of a handful of candidates repeatedly linked with the LSU job and I’m wondering how he was thought of while he was there?

He was adored and we all wished him well when he left for a promotion. Almost as much as Pittman.

really highly, IMO. Keep in mind when kirby and his guys came in in 2016 we were in pretty bad shape overall. 2016 being year 1 across the baord had a good bit of ups and downs but outside of the ole miss game the defense played pretty darn well. In 2017 they were even better and were awesome. maybe not quite as good in 18 but still very good. I don't know anyone actually that would be disappointed with his tenure here. With that said, being a coordinator is waaaaaay different than being a head coach. If kirby died tomorrow and we were searchign for replacements tucker definitely would not be at the top fo my list. Mel has won at a high level at bama and uga as an assistant but as for being a head coach, leading colorado and msu is way differnet than lsu

Pretty well liked and remembered though maybe not on the level as Lanning now (in part because Kirby was still so new with Mel that we didn’t know who was really running the defense, in other part because Lanning has put a wry good idea not generational defense in the field the past few seasons). Obviously he has proven to be a strong HC which legitimizes a lot of what he did while DC at UGA in hindsight

For sure. A lot of LSU fans would put Aranda well above Tucker on their personal list though and I think that has a lot to do with familiarity. He’s just as much of a risk as Tucker if not moreso IMO bc at least with Tucker you know you’ll always recruit at a high level.

Very, very good DC. I was not happy when he left but understood why.

We loved him. He was an integral part of our 2017 run.

He’s very highly thought of. Will make a good head coach and will recruit his tail off.

He can coach.
He can recruit.

Can he staff an SEC school?
Can he handle firing wrong coaches and replacing them with the right coaches?

Tucker is more than fine. He will be a cultural fit (eats, sleeps, breathes football).
The only questionmark is hiring an OC, QB coach, OL coach, etc.. and replacing the ones that have got to go.
