If level of play matters, any of these "experts" who have UCF (terrible schedule) and Notre Dame (unintended terrible schedule with FSU, USC, and UL all being in the crapper this season) need to be replaced.

#1 Alabama
#2 Clemson
#3 Oklahoma (for 13 games AND avenging sole loss)

After that I would argue for Georgia but Ohio State has some claim too.

It’s the difference between best vs deserving. Does Oklahoma deserve their shot or does UGA get in for demonstrating they can give #1 a real fight?

That answer lies with whichever option is going to yield more money for conferences long term.

SEC brings in more money compared to other conferences but more conferences would be involved if Oklahoma or Ohio State makes it in and that’s what this all comes down to. More conferences mean more money.

I don’t believe in participation trophies. Should have won yesterday. We didn’t. Oklahoma took care of business avenging their only loss to a rank team. Nuff said. 12-2 is not a bad record for a rebuilding season.

Well ND won’t be in next year. We’re gonna make sure of that

This logic makes no sense if the playoffs are supposed to be the 4 best teams and Georgia is one of those teams then how will you deny them?

Do they still run the BCS computers?

I wonder what that old formula has to say about it

Because "best" is a term used for marketing purposes. The only thing that has ever mattered in the totality of college sports is production of revenue for the schools and conferences that profit share among them.

Seriously, go back through the history of college sports and you will find that organized teams representing each school were not created out of some sense of gentlemanly competition and school spirit but because the teams made for good rallying points for communities and alumni from which donations could be solicited and tickets and merchandise sold.

If the word "best" exists in the terminology surrounding the CFP, it is only to engage plebeians like us in tuning in and to entice the actual big boosters in continuing to support the never-ending arms race. We're all chasing a rabbit that Bama has already caught.

It would also be the most hilarious thing ever. If we were to get in and then go on to win the National Championship.....in a year when half of Georgia fans don’t want us to get in playoff.

Please God, I know you have a great sense of humor. Make it happen!!

Then why would the committee take Bama over OSU last year? The last national title had low ratings compared to other nattys.

I'm not saying we get in, I rather not have us have to face Saban with him having a month to prepare

If we rematch Bama, I'd rather do so knowing that we'd have Monty Rice and Ben Cleveland healthy and maybe Hawkins-Muckle and David Marshall available

When the smoke clears, I hope people can appreciate how phenomenal that Georgia team was last night.

Don’t know if I’m ready to re-watch it yet, but there’s so much to be blown away and proud of.

I'll say that I'm equally proud of the effort and dazzled by what we managed to do as I am worried about the effect a virtual repeat of the NCG mgiht have on the team psyche moving forward.

I was straightforward that I didn't think we'd have much of a shot; I was expecting a 2011 SECCG type result with a strong first half and a blow out second half. But we hung in there in a year when we honestly should have been too young and too inexperienced to do so.

That should mean incredible things for next season but Kirby yet again has his work cut out for him keeping this team locked in and focused through a long offseason (and a relatively disappointing matchup against a 4 loss Texas team in New Orleans).

Agree with each of your points.
1. I can't help but believe that the team lost some confidence in the ability of our coaches to call winning plays in big games.
2. I think Kirby is in denial and needs to admit he made a stupid call and that our failure to score points in the 4th quarter is due to lack of innovation/adjustments in the 2nd half of these games.
3. Kirby is in serious danger of becoming a laughing stock and I worry about the impact on recruiting. Dabo was in a simple position with Clemson's chokes and he overcame it with superior recruiting. Hopefully Kirby will be able to do the same.

It would be better to always think about what might have been than to play Alabama and lose again. That would be devastating to the program's psyche and it would also make the playoff committee look bad for going out on a limb with a two-loss UGA.

I'm not sure I like our chances if Saban has a month to prepare, either. We may have given it our best shot this year.

Just watched the selection show. When they had the 4th spot blank with the anticipation, I started to get a sick feeling in my stomach. Not sure I could sit through another UGA/Bama game. Texas is a good bowl matchup for us. We get what we deserve. Who knows, maybe we exposed that Bama is really not invincible and Oklahoma will knock them off. Just a gut feeling but I don't see Clemson beating them.
