No that's just what my company offers for the dad, pregnant women get a whole year paid leave. I'm not gonna complain to be paid for 6 months for doing nothing work related.

When my son was born, I had Aetna insurance. They didn't pay for the pregnancy test. Then Obama gave me $2500.00. Made out like a bandit.

Wait...What?

I'm still insured (retired) and the Obamacare fiasco and subsequent "Cadillac" taxes took a toll, But I'm thankful for the care provided by my employer.

That said, let's look at the development of the web site Healthcare.gov. Obama, the worst president in the history of the United States of America is to be blamed for this to happen.

quote:

The design of the website was overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and built by a number of federal contractors, most prominently CGI Group of Canada. The original budget for CGI was $93.7 million, but this grew to $292 million prior to launch of the website. While estimates that the overall cost for building the website had reached over $500 million prior to launch[1][9][10][11][12] and in early 2014 HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell said there would be "approximately $834 million on Marketplace-related IT contracts and interagency agreements,"[13] the Office of Inspector General released a report in August 2014 finding that the total cost of the HealthCare.gov website had reached $1.7 billion[14] and a month later, including costs beyond "computer systems," Bloomberg News estimated it at $2.1 billion.[15] On July 30, 2014, the Government Accountability Office released a non-partisan study that concluded the administration did not provide "effective planning or oversight practices" in developing the HealthCare.gov website.[16]

They spent 2.1 billion, 2,100,000,000 that's to develop a website.

Drain the swamp.

$10-12K. You either have it or you don’t. Simple as that.

It wouldn’t have been that bad at all for me if we wouldn’t have had to use the damn emergency room entrance in the middle of the night on a weekend. It wasn’t even an emergency at the time but St. Mary’s only allows you to enter the hospital through the emergency entrance after a certain time on the weekend. We tried to fight it because we didn’t have a choice but in the end we had to pay. It’s a really shitty thing to do to people. We couldn’t have even induced early to prevent it because she was one day behind the earliest date we would have been allowed to induce.

Mark us squarely in the "having it" column

If we're swinging occam's chainsaw at the situation I suppose thats the barest terms you could frame it in. We never really weighed having the Dr shop vac it out of her, or whatever method you godless hyenas prefer these days. I have no idea how indictable st.peter considers chucking babies into a wood chipper to be, I just know I already have alot to answer for

You have a problem being paid to be at home with your family, enjoying one of the greatest gifts GOD can give a person?

No im a huge fan of being paid at home. Im just in awe that companys can survive with policies like that

But since we're on the topic. What the frick does a MAN do for six months when a kids born. Do you take supplements that allow you to lactate?

I plan on taking about 2 weeks off. I think my wife gets 3 months im not sure. If she wants to take unpaid leave beyond that fine by me. But no way in hell am I laying around the house longer than that. Thats my max capacity for enjoying gods gift

This is your first kid, right?

It's worth noting that just because my company allows for *up to* 6 months doesn't mean I'll take it all... Also, keep in mind that some people may have wives who either do or have the capability of out earning them... It may be in the family's best interest to get her back to work sooner. Not everyone's situation is the same.

Exactly, I didn't use all my leave because I wanted to get the frick out of the house.

In 2010 my daughter spent 3 weeks in the neonatal ICU at St Mary's in Athens and almost that long at Egleston in Atlanta. All in we were less than $5K out of pocket. She later had to surgery in Germany where I had the basic German national coverage and she was in hospital for 2 weeks and either myself or my wife was there with her 24 hours a day in a private suite with her crib and a bed for us with a kitchenette.....it cost us 15 euros....because we parked in the wrong parking lot LOL. The German hospital did not even have a billing department.....we had to wait about 4 months for them to let us know how to pay for the parking....which, in typical German efficiency, they did eventually do!

As a side note we stayed at The Ronald McDonald house in Atlanta and Nuremberg during this time....I do not EVER go to McDonalds since without putting some money in that box...those people are saints....our situation wasn't horrible but some the stories of the other families there were indescribable...and to be able to have place to stay close to the hospital with a hot meal and others going through similar stuff is without a price....The house allows folks to volunteer to come in and cook meals during normal times...I doubt they are doing it now...my wife and our 2 kids have cooked 9 breakfasts at various locations in Germany and the US and it is VERY rewarding....if you ever wanted to help people in need think about it.....the people in these houses are going through shite that is unimaginable and any type of human kindness that you can provide them will be repaid 1000 times in the joy knowing you were some little comfort brings.
