Watching Cooks interview, the team knew it wasn’t a “must win” game. This was obvious from the result.

I absolutely despise this thinking. If we had beaten them theyd be out of the playoffs and we would essentially be guaranteed a national title in early December. Not to mention winning another sec title putting us in sole possession of 2nd most of all time. fricking around and not caring just means we have to play a top 2 team twice instead of once.

Despise it all you like.

It's nearly impossible to deny it was a factor. Human Nature let's these thoughts seep in, unless you're coached by Nick Saban.

Yep.

And FWIW, Greg McElroy said the same thing.

Gotta score more than 7 points in the second half,
And we can’t afford any of kirbys F ups like he tends to have when facing Saban

We're far and away the better football team and have proved it this entire season except against Bama.

This is all mental. We won't win against them until our guys have full confidence that UGA is the better team and have more talent on the field. Did Kirby use the last month to pound that message into their heads? Do they believe him? We'll find out on Monday.

Overall we have the better players, but I'm not sure we have the better coaching staff. What beat us vs Bama in the SECCG was coaching and scheming. Bama had a much better game plan and executed it almost flawlessly. If Kirby and staff can find ways to exploit Bama's weaknesses, we have a shot. If not, the results will be similar to all of the other UGA/Bama games. Young cannot be given all of the time to throw the football that he was given in the SECCG. We made their entire o-line look like All-Americans.

I've been so busy this season that it's actually been a nice distraction for me. I'm not nervous at all about the game, though I'm not feeling very confident in a win. Would love to see it, though.

I agree it's not the way to enter a contest mentally.

Just saying they're only human. It's understandable in that regard.

Don't think we need to worry about that on Monday.

No doubt. Their o line was pretty dominant.

Should see a motivated front 7.

How is everyone feeling about the game?

Excited. And trying to soak up every second of this and enjoy the ride.

I'm getting old enough to realize that the build-up is the best part. Almost always. No matter what the final result is

Think about the Braves winning the series this year. What are your best memories of that? Was it the ride leading up to the moment, or was it the parade a few days afterwards??

Fellows, We are in the moment right now. Look around. This is fricking awesome

So true on the anticipation being the best part...when the braves won I was expecting to feel more of something. I was happy but not what I thought I would be after seeing one of my teams win it all.

I think my feelings would be stronger if UGA wins, but the anticipation and angst of the ride is special.

I did not know what to expect in the game with Michigan. Was Georgia in a funk or what? Well we found out really early that Georgia was there to kick butt.

Georgia's roster is absolutely better than Alabama's roster. We know that if B Young is given all day to throw the ball he can carve up a secondary as can a lot of QBs.

Who shows up Monday night? The team that stomped Michigan, Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee or the team that took the field in ATL on Dec 4th?

I look for Georgia to take the field ready to play football.

So the going for it on 2 4th downs inside their 25 instead of kicking 2 field goals which would have made it a one score game wasn’t a change of strategy to you?

There was nothing out of the ordinary for that 1st 4th down attempt, and it was a good call. The 2nd one was stupid and panicky, but the previous interception no doubt influenced it.

With that said, I was simply speaking in regards to offensive play calling strategy. That didn’t change until after the pick 6.

We’ve gone off on a 3 page tangent on two different topics. The initial comment was him going away from what was working and them catching up in the second half and us not being able to regain momentum of what was working earlier. This did not happen in the SECCG because they were leading at half.

Kirby couldn't get the team motivated for the SEC championship game, in which they could not only have kept an undefeated season intact but also knocked Alabama out of the playoff picture? Seems like that should have been very motivating.
