damn State...

Seriously though MSU is much improved. Our game will be a lot better one than the MSU/LSU game. MSU may pull out with a W but I'm confident that our D will keep them below 24.

Fitzgerald will give us fits, and their d is much improved under Grantham. Sanford is worth about 7 pts if you ask me. Need our DL to get pressure off Fitz because I'm not overly impressed at all with our secondary.

I think we pull out a close one but it's only because I don't predict losses unless pretty dang sure

How much different are we from last year when we played Nicholls?

I think we'll bottle up Fitzgerald. He's not as Athletic as Wimbush.

if we contain the QB (have so far against 2 more mobile QBs) I think we'll be just fine

Fitzgerald might be the best QB we will face this year IMO, but I definitely think that Notre Dame's supporting cast is head and shoulders above Mississippi State's. As long as we keep playing disciplined and have that mean streak that we have shown in the first three games, I see no reason we dont win this game by 10 points at home.

Touche. And the honest answer is, we still don't really know. I will point out, though, that our QB is different and we didn't have a 7-year head coach last year, either.

Defense, a decent passing game, and running backs good enough to improvise is what we have right now. When a team exposes this, we could be in trouble.

A lot different!

Defense: better
Offense: difficult to say but numbers wise we are better
Special Teams: a lot better
Coaching: so far better

if Sony plays...and Chaney doesn't get too cute...and from the other thread...gets the damn TE's involved...then we will be ok...our D alone puts us in the running for the SEC East....State is not as good as they showed against LSU...penalties and dumb mistakes and momentum swing and those things were what led to the LSU debacle of 2017...

If we can't run between the tackles we will be depending on a true Freshman to win and not lose games throwing the ball. That should be a big concern.

If we contain the Fitzgerald like we held the notre qb to 1 yard. And that guy has run for 200 yards in the other two games. Even if our o does bad our d is good enough to keep us in the game

I guess my point is that with Sony and the other guys that can "make you miss" and "break ankles"...we don't necessarily have to run "tween the tackles"

Swift, Herrien, Holyfield...we are stacked at that position and each one brings a new dynamic to the run game...use em all....I say!

led by Chubb and Michel of course.

Grantham is a difference from last season.

He will bring his 5-2 front defense to try and control the line of scrimmage.

Do we go with our tight ends and fullbacks against their 5-2?
Do we spread the field and challenge them in their nickel?

If we don't spread the field, we play to our weakness.

We showed more under center against Samford. But it was Samford. It will be interesting to see Strong/Chaney's approach.

We got to play tough corner man to man defense to free up LBs for run support

Play man with a running QB and you can pay a heavy price.

Huh ? He only rushed for 300 yards against a team that made us quit last year. He's as capable or more than Wimbush.
