I agree
When JT was cleared it was obvious that CKS was going to stick with his winner and I agreed. How do you bench Stet when he just kept getting it done?
Now, I did think at the time he should’ve left after 2021 solely because I wanted him to go out in top and didn’t think there was any way we’d repeat. I’ll own that.

Thinking that is fine but there were some that were actively mad he returned because they wanted the next shiny recruit...which I think was arch at the time to commit and stet coming back would scare him and mess up the recruiting cycle

That’s been the MO of this fan base since the whole Eason Fromm Fields cluster.

Are you counting Cincy as the win? If so, lol
That team was really good and they proved it in 2021. Probably the best G5 team since the Kellen Moore Boise State teams. Their secondary had 3 current really good NFL starters on it and Daniels put damn near 400 yards on them.

How damn good was Stetson Bennett?
He was the best I've ever seen at UGA and I'm 60. Pretty sure you could give him the majority of the credit in Kirby being considered an elite coach. Without those 2 NCs which don't happen without Stetson, Kirby would be considered a great coach, but probably not elite.

That OSU offense played out of their minds that night and had our defense spinning in circles.
Except the 4th.

Pay no regard to the blackguards and rapscallions, dear boy! Those of us with class and refinement were always confident that our spectacularly-monikered man would see us through to victory! Quite.

And the 4th also made a NFL roster.Sauce Gardner is arguably the best CB in the NFL,Coby Bryant won the Jim Thorpe award and solid NFL safety along with safety Darrick Forest who also became a NFL starter.
The '21 team ended up having 9 players drafted and 5 in the top 100 ... arguably the most talented secondary in CFB.

Not to mention their RB was a bama transfer that went for 12 YPC that game and obviously had a QB that was good enough to be a top 3 round draft pick. People seem to forget they were actually ranked higher than we were entering that game.
I admit I overlooked them simply because of their name but that team had some damn good talent on it and it was a hell of a win.

FIFY
How many times did they tell 'em he would never become a starter? Geez, they started D'Wan Mathis over him

I think lots of folks did.I just remember watching the game and noticed immediately how fast/quick they were especially on defense. They had SEC calibre players all over the field.
Disappointed on the way they played Bama in the playoffs the following season.Coaching staff decided to go with 6 db's and let Bama run it down their throats. For whatever reason the coaching staff didn't show much confidence in that secondary.

While I hate to keep rehashing arguments that we've been making the last 4 years on this board already...it is common sense to make judgments based on informaiton you currently have available to you at the time. Once new data is presented, unless you're just copmletely stubborn you will then reassess your opinion.
It was TOTALLY valid to be skeptical of stetson all the way up to and including half of the national title game. I mean..why not? He had yet to put the team on his back and win a game (in over half the games he started if we scored 10 points we would've won) and did have a propensity for some really head scratching, bone headed interceptions. The first BIG game he faced in teh SECCG was a nightmare. So no, it's not unreasonable to have been down him...UP TIL THEN.
After the natty, we had new data. All the negatives written about him that used to be true were no longer true any more. We had actual proof that he could rise to another level and win on the biggest stage. At THAT point, anyone hating on him was just too embarrassed to eat their words and pull for the guy going forward.
But the whole "I can't believe nobody gave stetson his due" mantra is just not valid at all.

If he rephrased it as "An absurd amount of fans still didn't give him credit after 2021" it would be completely valid.

100% agree

Valid to be skeptical sure but they weren't just being skeptical of Stetson they were degrading him and propping up JT based on stat padding vs shitty teams and making it out like JT was the superior QB which even at that point was a dumb take.
And now looking back one guy is in the NFL and the other is goriwng mushrooms or some shite in cali.

I mean our HC and 3 differnet OCs didn't really want to start stetson so it's not the dumbest take, especially considering how well JT played in the extremely limited window of time he was healthy.
Once he went out an extended amount of time in 2021 and stetson took over for good, there's no way you bench him though. At that point it was his team regardless of any mistakes taht might be made.

once again this has zero to do with the topic. What both dudes are doing in 2026 has zero bearing whatsoever on their performance as a UGA QB.

I said this almost word for word on TalkinDawgs on 2021 and got a PM from a mod telling me to stop trolling.
The stet hate can't be diminished. I will not allow it. It was pervasive and crazy to me.

I just got banned from there for saying NIL has affected our ability to get 5 star QBs to commit. They are very anti Bobo...which fair but if someone sprains a hammy they tie it back to Bobo.
