Gunner after two games this season vs. last

Both seasons started with 2 payday games, so it's worth comparing.
This year – 28-32 for 436 yards // 8 touchdown passes, 0 interceptions
Last year – 40-58 for 316 yards // 2 touchdown passes, 0 interceptions
…Anyone could've predicted that Gunner would look more confident and comfortable as a second year starter, but twice as many TD passes as incompletions is insane. Gunner seems so much lighter on his feet in the pocket and he's putting touch on the ball and not taking big wind ups on every throw like it's a fastball.
My only nitpick is he's still too deliberate and takes too big of a windup on deep shots. There were 2 play action deep shots in the first quarter when the pressure got to him and effected the throw. One was on a delayed blitz and the pass protection was actually okay, and on the other one Helton definitely whiffed on a block and looked like a freshman, but the delivery was still too long.
Barring injury Gunner should definitely be a Heisman finalist. He finished 7th last season and was one back Georgia Tech game away from maybe being invited to the ceremony. He also has the aw shucks personality and the wholesome backstory that makes a good narrative for the Heisman voters and just looks and acts like somebody who should win a fricking Heisman!

I think it boils down to our mentality this season it really seems like there’s no outside noise for the program right now. They’re on the field doing their jobs, very disciplined, and getting it done. O Line being more productive is giving gunner more confidence bc last year I feel like he was too quick to tuck and run or hit the short pass instead of letting play develop.
That being said we haven’t really been tested too much, and we will. How we respond to some adversity is important going forward

They look great, but cautiously optimistic as the competition level made it less challenging.

1 rushing attempt so far is a reflection of his development as a passing quarterback.
He's not Peyton Manning, but he doesn't have to be. He's made a few throws under pressure where he would've taken off and ran last year. This play to Taylor is a great example of this.
Paired with a stronger running game and some weapons around him, I am thinking he's gonna flourish.

He has made some throws over the middle which was his area that needed most improvement. Either seeing it and or making the throw.

I'm getting tired of watching opposing DL intentionally drive Gunner into the turf like that. I wish Kirby would start serving notice that if that's the way it's gonna be, tell your QB to gird his loins.

Its worth noting we started last season with a couple of injuries on the OL. Gaston and one another (can't recall which one) was banged up if you'll recall. This OL is healthy and looks alot more athletic and physical to me.

Yeah. But they are young as hell. We are going to have some growing pains. But fortunately, the schedule is like a step ladder for strength of competition and we can improve along with the quality of opponent.

After rewatching the WKU game, Gunner is still my biggest question mark. There is obvious improvement at times, but at other times he needs to get the ball out faster. He still has that trigger mechanism, taking time to tap the ball even when a free rusher is coming hard at him directly in his line of sight; it cost him another disrupted throw on Saturday. Taking those avoidable shots is a risk to his health and his success.
