Superior to crappie... nothing to be jealous of. You need to make some yankee friends that talk like Al Lindner to show you how to catch them. They use those funny looking jig heads on rocky areas. That's about all I know. ETA- where are you?

Gotta admit...the Zander is a good eating fish...and fun to catch. Ive made some friends here in Washington State....and it is a sportsmans paradise just not what we are accustomed to in the south. All in all it ain't bad but man I'd like to have my jon boat on West Point or Clark Hill or the Coosa and catching a basket full of slabs!

They tend to be bunches of them when theyre are any of them...Parts of the Columbia and Snake Rivers have no limit on them....apparently introduced and taking over....the same way with small mouth. They both eat salmon smelt and supposedly (I haven't been here when it was going on) you can catch hundreds of them when the smelt are returning...they catch some PIG smallies up here....3 - 5 pounders are very common.

I've got a work trip to Miami next week. Planning on bringing my fly rod and try to go after some peacock bass I think.

If you've got the time charter a boat for half a day and take advantage of having the gulf stream a mile from the beach.

I won't for this one, but likely will have more trips down this year. Meeting with the Phins this time... Have a lot of pro teams this year though.

That's what it looks like. Any recommendations on flies? Seems like shiny bait fish imitations are the way to go from my research...

Clousers with some mylar or flash. They make a type of Clouser in south florida with heavier eyes that allows it to sink quicker and can be stripped faster without losing natural action. They are bucktails....something like the hammer or along those lines. Its fast fishing....just about anything with some flash will work.....they don't seem particular. The Oscars are the same way....a lot like overgrown warmouth..
