I understand part of the running game is to try to establish being able to run between the tackles......but eventually you have to see that it ain't going to happen.
Why didn't he run more outside the tackles Saturday?

Because that stupid fricking rain made his khakis too tight in the legs to get in the proper squatting stance. When he attempted it, his blood flow was cut off. The man was handicapped by Mother Nature. She's a vengeful bitch.

I agree...and I'm glad Nauta was there to see our crazy good utilization of out tight ends...

It's hard running outside the tackles on a wet field. Bama couldn't do it either and only tried it 2 or 3 times. The stretch play is successful when the back can get to the edge, find a hole, stick his foot in the ground and accelerate up field. It's really tough to make that upfield cut on wet grass. Drake slipped twice trying to do it.

Blaze dropped one that I can remember but other than that........

I can buy that explanation. Was frustrating though for all of to watch.

The edges were being crushed by their strong front 7. Did you see Houston out there?

This. I don't have a problem with the lack of runs outside... at least early. Much more problematic was the absolute lack of creativity in trying to get Michel/Chubb on the field at the same time spreading attention, as well as no creativity in the passing game. "Oh look another pass towards Mitchell in tight coverage with safety help."
Granted he was the only receiver getting *any* separation that I could see, but no usage of TEs of note, and I didn't see Quayvon out there much (not sure if injured or I just missed it?) who is a beast out of the backfield and seems like he could have lit up some blocks to potentially spring some better runs. I did see a god awful drop on a pass to a FB but it wasn't him.

I didn't focus much on the OL play, not enough to focus on individual positions. But it was obvious we weren't getting much push up front.

Our Wrs outside of Mitchell got zero separation, none, nada there were times Lambert held the ball looking for someone ANYONE to get open the OL on many plays gave him 5 or 6 secs to scan the field before he finally just had to run or fit in a short pass to someone covered like a blanket.

I agree with that. Chubb was WIDE OPEN, I mean NO ONE around him for DAYS one time in the flats early in the ballgame. If Lambert would have actually scanned to the right instead of watching and throwing left Chubb coulda, shouda, woulda, been off to the races. I don't remember what the score was but it was either 3-3 or 10-3 at that point. Maybe we could have gotten some much needed momentum but it was not to be.

We ran 1 toss sweep and Sony got 20+ yards. It was there for the taking.

Houston getting owned ruined that play. Chubb was open.

I think they picked off one attempt to Jackson Harris down the sideline. But at that point it was just getting sad.

Partially true, but there were multiple times he didn't even look in the direction of open receivers.

I wanted a chance to rewatch some of the game before I pointed out the same thing....
I thought all along we were "hiding the playbook" against the shite teams...

Finally... Someone gets it.

He panicked several times in the pocket and was very bad at even looking in the direction of secondary receivers...
