Plant leg, have vision, cut, accerate, move, cut, fall forward. This is 99% of what a rb does. 40 time is irrelevant.

40 is more or less a placeholder metric for acceleration... It's overrated for sure but not completely irrelevant.

Awful speed, even for a TE.
Nice going, dude. You just triggered a massive brawl between the Raiders' and Jets' front office guys over who gets him in the First Round. The Bengals' group is thinking about jumping in, but they're going to make sure that he either has a drug problem or has murdered someone before they'll commit.

Damn Broadway is packed. Wish I wasn’t out of town, that’d be so fun

Who the frick said he simply didn't "work hard"

I *did* however say it *seems* as though he didn't put in the effort to get ready.
And you were speaking out of your arse. just admit it. you didnt even know he was working with a track expert to help his times. Its exactly what I said, you criticized his work ethic because he didnt run a time you thought he should have...which is lazy and ignorant.
quote:
No one claimed he was a burner... simply that his time is disappointing relative to what would be expected from his corresponding 100M.
youre being dishonest. in your OP you said he didnt run like 4.8 guy, which implies you think he seemed faster than that while playing.. you then took another shot at his "effort". However, anyone who watched him would know he never showcased breakaway speed. And I don't even know why youre bringing up 100m times. As shown, his times aren't significantly different. and those differences could easily be contributed to the variances between the two events and not a lack of improved speed.

No one said he hasn't worked hard... I did question the approach to preparing for the combine...
really?
quote:
how on earth do you not put in the effort
quote:
It just seems like he didn't even put in effort into getting ready for the combine/pro-day..
That looks like you are saying he didnt work hard to me...

Baker in round one as deserved.
Posted on 4/26/19 at 5:59 am to BigDaddyDawg
Good for Baker. Now, will the Falcons take any Bulldogs? I doubt Walker will be there in 4th round as Falcons traded away their 2nd and 3rd round picks. Holyfield?

Possible they take a RB 4th or 5th. Most likely. 5th

Nauta will probably be drafted, but not high. He doesn’t really have anything super special in terms of TE skill set that makes me say that he is definitely going to be successful in the NFL.
Someone on this board compared him to Gronk a few weeks ago

Was I? Or did I maybe just not type everything that was in my head? I think a solid 30% of my posts get some kind of comment about being too long... when I type a shorter message, people try to fill in the gaps with their own opinion on what things mean... this is why I frequently type long replies...
*seems*... I probably should have said *enough* effort instead of *the* effort... I was aware that he claimed to have spent time with a track specialist, but I still maintain that either he should have worked with someone better or at a minimum they should have advised him not to run at the Combine.

Did I say he looked like a 4.4 or 4.5 guy? We're talking about fractions of seconds here. His *game speed* doesn't look like someone who blows past people but he does find a hole and push through it pretty well... he's got reasonably good initial burst. I would have figured from his game speed and his efforts to prepare for the draft that we would have seen something more similar to the correlating 100M time. One line I *did* miss in that article was the bit about anticipate an additional 0.05s due to the difference between a single run and a personal best. With that, sounds like he would have been expected at low 4.7, so that definitely puts him back into running closer to what he posted. I still think that there likely should have been general improvement in 3 years in a college S&C program, but as mentioned previously, it's certainly possible that his muscle mass gains offset any speed gains.
Again... if his fastest times with his trainer were in the mid to high 4.7's, he should have flat out not run a 40 prior to the draft, or at most run one time at UGA's pro-day and claimed it was a poor run... Public 40 times just set the narrative too much to overcome.

It's not like that's hard to do, since they play the same position. Now, comparing him *favorably* to Gronk...that's a bit more difficult.

Man some of the guys that decided to come out this year....ouch....not surprising but still that sucks for them

Wow Hardman with the second round pick

Hardman will fricking kill in that offense

I thought Mecole was making a mistake in leaving early and I'm surprised he was drafted so high after playing only 2 years at WR, but I'm happy for the guy and hope he has a great career.

Injury is really the only excuse to not run a 40 at the combine. You go there to prove yourself.

And no one has ever "claimed" an injury and not run there? The scouts will still call BS to some degree but running twice was probably not the best move if you're not putting up better times.
